[0.0] Jack: Hello and you're listening to Let's Drone Out and special thank you to our lovely Patreons
[6.28] Jack: that help donate so that we can pay the editor to remove the swear words and silly things
[11.36] Jack: we say.
[13.0] Jack: Massive thank you to…
[14.4] Jack: Carlos Campos!
[16.0] Frank: Art Faulkner.
[17.84] Frank: Sam Dahmer.
[19.68] Frank: On with the show.
[20.68] Stephen: Hello and welcome to Let's Drone Out.
[54.18] Stephen: This week you are joined by some people's favourite, Curry Kitten.
[59.14] Stephen: And Jack, the not very well man who may be making an appearance depending on the state
[66.06] Stephen: of affairs, and myself, Stephen.
[69.38] Stephen: Good evening and I hope all you out there have been enjoying this week with some credible
[73.6] Stephen: weather enabling you to take to the air without being smashed sideways by wind or rain.
[80.02] Stephen: We ourselves have not been so fortunate although I did manage to get flying with Jack recently
[85.5] Stephen: but top secret projects forbid us from saying too much about that.
[89.94] Stephen: We were surprised to see you.
[91.66] Stephen: Yeah it's good to see you too mate.
[94.18] Stephen: Did you not at least crash this tricopter or something?
[96.42] Stephen: No I specifically said don't bring the tricopter because I know you love it and I will crash
[101.26] Stephen: it because I'll try and fly it like it's a modern quad and it won't be happy and I will
[106.74] Stephen: pin it into the side of a hill.
[109.26] Stephen: So no we didn't fly the trine but we did fly a bunch of digital systems and got his
[115.3] Stephen: analog rigs out and some interesting studies in gyros and power supply systems to gyros
[124.58] Stephen: enacted through a physics experiment wherein we determined that looping lots of noise through
[131.86] Stephen: a gyro wasn't necessarily good for de-term or your motors or your sanity.
[139.26] Stephen: And after adding all the filters and running out of additional filters to add we decided
[144.14] Stephen: that it's probably better to have nice hardware than lots of filtering.
[149.06] Jack: Nice.
[150.06] Jack: I do have funny enough a tricopter update I 3D printed a motor mount it seems to have
[162.18] Jack: held and have you flown it?
[166.22] Jack: I put nine inch props on it and Christie retuned it without me asking.
[176.38] Jack: Why stop at nine inch?
[180.26] Jack: Rule zero.
[181.26] Stephen: You have to match what's in your pants.
[184.22] Stephen: I thought rule zero just doesn't apply to tricopter it's like tricopter is the exception
[189.66] Stephen: to rule zero.
[190.66] Stephen: They've got 11 inch on mine Jack.
[194.5] Tony: Hello.
[195.5] Tony: How is it?
[196.5] Jack: Let me know if you guys can hear me cough.
[202.5] Tony: Oh my god.
[204.06] Tony: You sound rough.
[205.06] Jack: I thought the lurky what happened is I went up and saw Steven and through the whole trip
[211.74] Jack: any train pole I saw I gave you a good old lick.
[216.06] Stephen: You're licking those railings once again.
[218.1] Stephen: I have tube aids.
[223.46] Stephen: I'm familiar with the winter condition of having a small head cold riding the underground
[228.58] Stephen: and then you blow into a tissue at the other end and you find that you've somehow ejected
[233.86] Stephen: a whole load of jet black mystery into the tissue that wasn't in your nose and the other
[238.94] Stephen: end of the journey.
[239.94] Stephen: So I believe that there's some balance at play.
[243.34] Jack: Carl, if we do go to London, if you've ever wondered what being inside an air fryer is
[249.58] Jack: like.
[250.58] Jack: Try the Victoria line at rush hour.
[254.38] Koel: Yeah.
[255.38] Koel: Yeah.
[256.38] Koel: It's not fashionable.
[259.5] Koel: Victoria station.
[260.5] Koel: That's like the main one.
[261.5] Koel: Isn't that?
[262.5] Stephen: It's one of them.
[264.86] Stephen: Victoria line was kind of a far flung line back in the day and they didn't make it particularly
[270.46] Stephen: wide.
[271.46] Stephen: So they haven't gotten the height to put an air conditioning systems or any extra airflow.
[275.82] Stephen: So you've got what you've got and runs nice and fast, but it's damn noisy here.
[280.98] Stephen: It's damn hot.
[281.98] Koel: Well, she calls it tuberculosis.
[285.14] Koel: Uh-huh.
[286.14] Jack: I like that one.
[287.14] Jack: Tony has got a new mode on his mountain bike and he had the neo truck desperately trying
[295.58] Jack: to keep up with him.
[296.58] Jack: He was too rapid.
[298.38] Jack: He was too rapid.
[299.38] Tony: I just posted a reel of it.
[304.3] Tony: That was tight.
[305.42] Tony: That was times eight, Jack.
[307.74] Jack: You were right.
[309.7] Tony: It did keep up with me pretty well.
[311.1] Tony: I mean, what did it fly seven whole minutes, which is was about three and a half, maybe
[317.06] Tony: three miles.
[318.06] Tony: I think I've done.
[319.06] Stephen: And then it crashed.
[320.06] Tony: Was it a couple or open train, mostly open train, but like down through farm yards and
[326.22] Tony: cross fields and through tracks and through gates, you're not quite brave enough to go
[330.34] Stephen: through the woods yet.
[331.34] Tony: Then I've been through the woods with space down pretty well.
[334.46] Tony: Yeah, it does.
[335.46] Tony: All right.
[336.46] Tony: And when it crashes, you just because it's so low, it just bounces off and you just go
[339.74] Tony: and pick it up.
[341.02] Stephen: Nice.
[342.02] Tony: I'm looking forward to the next version.
[344.62] Tony: I'm hoping they're going to do one with dodgy, you know, might move out of the way of stuff,
[350.18] Jack: you know, will be a bit more, a bit more we're moving like fiddlers elbow.
[356.18] Jack: I swear to God.
[357.18] UNKNOWN: Yeah.
[358.18] Koel: I've been seeing like fast-forwarded Jack, but I've been seeing like many five programmers.
[365.42] Koel: So I bet you Neo2 is just around the corner, man.
[367.66] Koel: I will get to enjoy them.
[370.74] Stephen: Unlike some people slightly to your south goal, who are currently released on the field
[375.7] Stephen: bench.
[376.7] Tony: Not going to be able to have it anymore.
[378.54] Koel: No.
[379.54] Koel: Well, in other news though, I actually just got some brand new goggles, not related to
[383.62] Koel: the ones I was talking about recently.
[385.22] Stephen: Oh, yeah.
[386.22] Koel: Check these out.
[387.22] Stephen: Steak goggles, swimming goggles.
[389.22] Stephen: Oh, yeah.
[390.22] Stephen: It's like you can be anywhere.
[392.34] Stephen: Forget about, forget about FPV.
[394.02] Koel: You can be anywhere in the world.
[396.46] Koel: It's actually meant for flying 3D.
[398.74] Koel: So this is like, I got to show Zoe FPV these.
[402.3] Koel: She might have to try those out.
[404.42] Koel: You can get right now.
[405.42] Stephen: It's not the right world of China.
[407.62] Stephen: Now I'm the top of the entire state building, just anywhere in the world.
[411.1] Koel: For our audio listeners, I have a view master from the, what, 80s?
[415.9] Koel: Yeah.
[416.9] Koel: Like 70s a bit?
[418.62] Koel: Yeah, probably like 70s.
[420.18] Koel: It's a miracle of plastic someone pays.
[422.14] Koel: There was this old like antique kind of spiff type shop or consignment store that was down
[427.74] Koel: the street.
[428.74] Koel: And this one little stand, head of view master with a whole booklet full of like, like hundreds
[435.1] Koel: of different slides.
[436.54] Koel: So I was like, and that, that place was closing.
[439.22] Koel: So everything was like 75% off.
[441.26] Koel: So I got that for three or four bucks.
[444.46] Koel: And I also got some, uh, some Sega games, um, I got some really good Sega games, actually,
[453.34] Tony: uh, probably please say, uh, say, uh, all jerks to, uh, transmit, uh, do up noise.
[466.74] Curry: Yeah.
[467.74] Koel: I still haven't set that up yet.
[469.18] Koel: It's, it's in the box with my Xbox 360, uh, another vintage console.
[474.06] UNKNOWN: Nice.
[475.06] Tony: So I saw Jack's voluminous bottom on somewhere.
[479.54] Tony: Does anyone else see it?
[483.14] Tony: Does anyone else see it?
[485.62] Tony: Jack's bum.
[486.62] Curry: I only saw the up two inches or so, but that's how you like the pieces.
[491.7] Jack: Just enough to show the kit.
[495.54] Jack: It was done.
[496.54] Jack: So the crank could rhyme Jack's crack on track.
[500.94] Jack: Yeah.
[501.94] Jack: If you notice I'm doing a mating call and screaming at sky in a traditional fashion.
[515.1] Jack: No, that's, that was me playing my nipples because I'm flying a tricopter.
[519.94] Jack: That was for you on my Instagram.
[523.46] Koel: Are we allowed to show those that picture Jack or is that, is that against the rules?
[527.78] Jack: I think you can't really see much.
[531.54] Jack: Yeah.
[532.54] Stephen: You can't show any flesh on YouTube now Christian far right slaps you down and lose the channel.
[539.18] Jack: It's like a quick little, not, not too close.
[545.58] Jack: Not too.
[546.58] Jack: Yeah.
[547.58] Jack: Yeah.
[548.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[549.58] Stephen: Yeah.
[550.7] Stephen: So I need to be able to identify which brand name job, but he's got wedged in the crack.
[555.66] Jack: I'd rather, I'd rather show that than the Toby filming me pooping.
[566.42] Koel: Here we have Jack sitting in the middle of a field on his own, hands and knees, configuring
[572.22] Koel: this tricopter.
[574.14] Koel: There's another view.
[575.3] Koel: Oh wait.
[576.66] Stephen: And the best view of all going down, there's almost a dane daytime moon visible.
[584.98] Tony: I was going to say, you think it's a bloody no hormone landing or something.
[591.22] Jack: I have got a white ass man, I am surprised before an office grade isn't written on my
[598.34] Jack: ass.
[599.34] Tony: Do you know, do you know, you always say, I'll wear that loomish jacket.
[602.7] Tony: So when I fly a long distance and then I'll turn around and come back.
[606.5] Koel: Just, just keep being done with it, bro, we're going to need, uh, whatever the welders wear
[615.62] Stephen: just to look at what you really need is to get a tattoo with your operator number just
[621.78] Koel: below the boat line operator numbers and, uh, insurance.
[629.66] Koel: That is something I'm going to have to get in the next week or two.
[632.5] Koel: Yeah.
[634.14] Stephen: Yeah.
[635.14] Stephen: You don't work without an operation number in the UK, so you need to be really careful.
[640.38] Stephen: Otherwise, when you get over here and you find yourself in a field thinking, wow, this
[644.66] Stephen: could be amazing.
[645.66] Stephen: You plug in the light, it won't work.
[647.7] Stephen: XD60 Connector says no.
[649.82] Stephen: Yeah.
[650.82] Stephen: Really careful.
[651.82] Tony: That reminds me, I think my A2 license, I think my five years has run up, run out.
[658.54] Stephen: What's the line for A2 is that commercial operations under a certain size or proximity
[663.02] Stephen: to people.
[664.02] Tony: Yeah.
[665.02] Tony: So I could like do, uh, do my flight through is for you then.
[669.1] Tony: Yeah.
[670.1] Tony: None of that.
[671.1] Tony: I haven't done any of that for ages anyway, but more on the roof inspections and stuff.
[675.34] Tony: But I don't know whether it's a bother renewing it or I've got another one to do Monday.
[684.9] Stephen: Yeah.
[685.9] Stephen: I don't know.
[686.9] Koel: It's like those YouTube videos are the reels you see where it's like someone that I strapped
[697.86] Koel: my GoPro to a ball or to a boomerang and it like throws up and then it's actually cuts
[703.1] Koel: to an FTD.
[704.1] Stephen: Yeah.
[705.1] Stephen: Yeah.
[706.1] Stephen: I'm not sure I'm going to do it again.
[716.12] Stephen: Really?
[717.12] Stephen: Was it a pain to go through the first time?
[719.12] Tony: Yeah.
[720.12] Tony: It was.
[721.12] Tony: There was lots of, uh, what's the textbook?
[724.42] Tony: Yeah.
[725.42] Tony: Which I hate dyslexia stuff.
[727.42] Tony: It's just not my cup of tea.
[730.42] Stephen: They haven't exactly tidied up regulations.
[732.42] Stephen: Have they?
[733.42] Stephen: They've just kind of boiled extra regulations on top of the existing ones.
[736.22] Tony: So yeah.
[737.22] Tony: Probably be more, more stuff.
[739.22] Tony: I know it's definitely cheaper now.
[741.02] Tony: I've seen it for like 25 quid or something.
[745.42] Koel: Is it an in-person thing or online?
[747.42] Koel: I don't mean online because it was during COVID.
[749.42] Stephen: If it's only 25 quid, we could all just travel up to the other room and do it as a, as a
[754.42] Stephen: team.
[755.42] Stephen: Study test.
[756.42] Stephen: Study groups.
[757.42] Tony: Maybe.
[758.42] Tony: Could do something like that.
[760.42] Tony: I don't know.
[761.42] Koel: Did you pass here the first time around Tony?
[764.42] Koel: It's not that bad.
[766.42] Curry: If you do it the first time around, Tony can do it.
[770.42] Curry: It's like it sets a low bench notch.
[772.42] Tony: Well, there you go.
[773.42] Tony: Exactly.
[774.42] Koel: For me, when I got my advanced pilot license for Canada, I think I, well, I got it on the
[781.42] Koel: third try.
[782.42] Koel: So I failed it the first time.
[784.42] Koel: Well, I think I may have talked about this before, but basically my, my basic was coming
[788.42] Koel: up where I had to read, renew it or redo it.
[791.42] Koel: So I was like, well, I mean, we'll just track for the advance.
[794.42] Koel: I got like two points off from what I to pass it.
[797.42] Koel: And I said, okay, whatever.
[798.42] Koel: I'll just renew the basic.
[799.42] Koel: And then, um, then like, then when things like when I actually kind of needed it, I
[804.42] Koel: was like, okay, I better, I better do this.
[806.42] Koel: And I failed.
[807.42] Koel: And then I, then I did 24 hours later and then I got it.
[810.42] Koel: But yeah, it's the one in Canada is not easy for the advanced, uh, drone pilot license.
[816.42] Koel: It's crazy.
[817.42] Tony: Yeah.
[818.42] Tony: It's probably a bit different to the A2.
[819.42] Tony: Yeah.
[820.42] Tony: It wasn't very bad.
[822.42] Tony: You have to know how to read charts.
[824.42] Koel: You have to know how to, um, like, like, like actual crazy pilot stuff.
[830.42] Jack: Yeah.
[831.42] Jack: Cool.
[832.42] Jack: Sorry.
[833.42] Jack: I did weather.
[834.42] Tony: I did do weather stuff on the A2.
[838.42] Curry: You have to know weird because it's like, Oh, there's the weather.
[843.42] Curry: Yeah.
[844.42] Curry: That looks okay.
[845.42] Curry: Yeah.
[846.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[847.42] Stephen: It's not really about doing anything.
[848.42] Stephen: It's about knowing the regs, isn't it?
[850.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[851.42] Stephen: Well, you have to judge is the weather good or bad.
[854.42] Stephen: And you have to know that you have to judge it.
[856.42] Stephen: And whether you can judge it or not, judge it really doesn't come into it.
[860.42] Stephen: You have to know that you have to.
[862.42] Stephen: Yes.
[863.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[864.42] Stephen: If you've got to put it on a checklist to be like, yep, on the checklist.
[867.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[868.42] Stephen: I'm pretty sure that I, you know, I can go out and fly my quad in a 50 mile an hour wind
[872.42] Stephen: because I've tuned it already in a 45 mile an hour wind.
[875.42] Stephen: And I think it's good enough.
[876.42] Stephen: And that's fine.
[877.42] Stephen: You can say that, but you just have to know it's on a checklist.
[880.42] Tony: I still think I've never been stopped or pulled over or any police or anyone.
[886.42] Tony: I've ever said anything.
[888.42] Tony: I still think, you know, no one's going to say anything anyway.
[892.42] Tony: And if the police do turn up, they're just, well, they won't know anything.
[897.42] Koel: So I think it'd be pretty cool.
[901.42] Koel: I watched like some random YouTube videos about drone flyers in the UK,
[906.42] Koel: especially in like maybe like more built up areas.
[910.42] Koel: And cops seem to show up and think that they know a lot and try to like get people in trouble
[916.42] Koel: a lot in the UK from what I've seen.
[918.42] Koel: And maybe I'm maybe that's just a really confrontational with the police,
[921.42] Stephen: I think compared to the police don't tend to rock up with a bunch of handguns and attitude.
[927.42] Stephen: So people chance it with the cops a bit.
[930.42] Koel: Yeah, true.
[931.42] Stephen: That's fair.
[932.42] Stephen: Yes.
[933.42] Jack: I mean, I don't like it when I recycle.
[936.42] Jack: I don't know.
[937.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[938.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[939.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[940.42] Jack: Yeah.
[941.42] Jack: Yeah.
[942.42] Jack: Because that's a girl's car.
[943.42] Curry: You know, has anybody seen Jack next to it?
[946.42] Curry: It's like, that's not his car.
[948.42] Curry: Yeah.
[949.42] Curry: It's like watching the clown.
[950.42] Stephen: He's going to take that car, put in his pocket and make it look,
[954.42] Jack: I am not compensating.
[956.42] Jack: Mr.
[957.42] Jack: Rover owner, six man followed by very fast.
[967.42] Jack: I'm not compensated.
[969.42] Jack: I just like a car I can fit in.
[971.42] Jack: That's all.
[972.42] Jack: Yeah.
[973.42] Jack: Yeah.
[974.42] Jack: I'm just not compensated.
[975.42] Jack: My old man.
[976.42] Jack: I've land rovers.
[978.42] Jack: It was practically inverted.
[980.42] Jack: Oh, it's a miracle.
[982.42] Jack: I'm here.
[984.42] Curry: Yeah.
[986.42] Koel: Well, I mean, there's enough room in Jack's car to fit two people and a
[990.42] Koel: backpack or two.
[991.42] Koel: So, I mean, that's that's enough or Jack in normal terms.
[995.42] Koel: Yeah.
[996.42] Koel: I guess it has been a while since I've been there.
[999.42] Koel: I haven't.
[1000.42] Koel: I think that when I came down was, was it 2022?
[1003.42] Stephen: Your car is about the same size as mine.
[1005.42] Stephen: And I do worry every now and then if you're going to like really give you
[1009.42] Stephen: ahead of a bang when you get into my goal.
[1013.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[1014.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[1015.42] Stephen: The door frame.
[1016.42] Stephen: I'm wondering, is he going to get in?
[1018.42] Stephen: Okay.
[1019.42] Stephen: Or is he going to absolutely smack his head on it?
[1021.42] Jack: Yeah.
[1022.42] Jack: Yeah.
[1023.42] Jack: I mean, the crumple zone is me.
[1028.42] Tony: He saved up some money to buy my number plate yet.
[1031.42] Jack: We need to go fund me.
[1040.42] Jack: I don't know to have it.
[1043.42] Tony: Yeah, it would be.
[1045.42] Tony: It would be.
[1046.42] Tony: I don't think what you might put it on my mind.
[1051.42] Tony: What's happening?
[1053.42] Tony: What's happening next year with with licenses?
[1057.42] Tony: I hear we have to have a.
[1059.42] Stephen: You have to get the file out and you've got to get that five inch down
[1065.42] Stephen: to under a hundred grams.
[1069.42] Tony: Is it really going down?
[1070.42] Tony: Is it going?
[1071.42] Tony: Are they dropping?
[1072.42] Stephen: Are they making it a hundred grams?
[1074.42] Stephen: The regs for 250 go down.
[1076.42] Stephen: So being applicable to 100 now.
[1080.42] Stephen: So basically you need all the paperwork for the 250 that you didn't
[1084.42] Stephen: need for it before.
[1087.42] Tony: So do you think, do you think they are going to make some sub one?
[1093.42] Tony: Yeah.
[1094.42] Stephen: I mean, we carry on chasing that.
[1096.42] Stephen: You were talking about the Neo a second ago and okay.
[1098.42] Stephen: Well, it was right.
[1099.42] Stephen: What?
[1100.42] Stephen: So that's like 140 gram.
[1102.42] Tony: Yeah.
[1103.42] Tony: Yeah.
[1104.42] Stephen: There's going to be like a Neo two that will hit 99 gram limit.
[1109.42] Stephen: I'm sure.
[1110.42] Stephen: That's why wouldn't they?
[1112.42] Jack: Why wouldn't they bother to do that?
[1114.42] Jack: Or just be a blob chip.
[1118.42] Jack: Yeah.
[1120.42] Stephen: And I'll probably reg out and say, well, it's under 10 grams.
[1123.42] Stephen: So that counts as a spy drone.
[1125.42] Stephen: I'm with, you know, a rescue for the, uh, some kind of, uh, you know,
[1129.42] Stephen: international spy.
[1131.42] Stephen: You'll get thrown in jail for that.
[1133.42] Stephen: And if you built your own drone, you're a terrorist.
[1138.42] Stephen: Yeah.
[1139.42] Stephen: So if it's under 10 grams or a rescue for espionage and, uh, treason
[1142.42] Stephen: and shoot you and if it's over a hundred grams, then, uh, you can't fly
[1148.42] Stephen: in built up areas.
[1149.42] Stephen: So you need to find an area where you're at least 2000 meters from any
[1153.42] Stephen: living, breathing personal building.
[1156.42] Tony: So we're finishing the show.
[1159.42] Tony: We're finishing the show right on time.
[1161.42] Tony: Then really it's going that way.
[1164.42] Stephen: I mean, there doesn't seem to be common sense in it.
[1166.42] Stephen: I'm, you know, I'm, I'm very determined about it.
[1169.42] Stephen: Maybe there's a way forward.
[1171.42] Curry: The other way to look at it, bear in mind, we've got the legal advice.
[1174.42] Curry: Don't listen to us is just ignore it.
[1177.42] Curry: Because as we found out, Tony has not been arrested or picked up for
[1182.42] Curry: anything.
[1183.42] Curry: And do you like doing Gatwick?
[1186.42] Curry: They did talk to them about it.
[1188.42] Curry: So as long as you're, I still think it's going to be a case of if you're
[1192.42] Curry: in the right area, which is like, if you're in a field, if you're away
[1196.42] Curry: from people, fly what you like, you know, people who live in London,
[1201.42] Curry: Steven might have slightly more aggravation from people thinking they know
[1206.42] Curry: what is now the law and stuff.
[1208.42] Stephen: It comes down to Wheaton's law, right?
[1210.42] Stephen: Wheaton's law.
[1212.42] Stephen: Don't be a dick.
[1214.42] Stephen: Fundamentally, it's always been about this, even before the regs.
[1219.42] Stephen: It's always been about respecting people that are around you.
[1222.42] Stephen: And if you respect people around you and you're nice to them, then they
[1226.42] Stephen: won't bother trying to cite the law.
[1228.42] Stephen: And if you don't respect them, then you can be passing all the laws and
[1233.42] Stephen: they'll still find a way of nailing you.
[1235.42] Stephen: So just be nice to people and respect everyone and make the hobby good for
[1240.42] Stephen: everyone as well as yourself, you know?
[1243.42] Stephen: Yeah, yeah.
[1246.42] Koel: Be a reasonable human.
[1249.42] Jack: Yeah.
[1250.42] Jack: Unless you're actually a final glide where they actively have it out for you
[1259.73] Jack: because you're having fun.
[1261.73] Tony: Yeah.
[1263.73] Stephen: I mean, there's some weird stuff down under with the tall bobby syndrome
[1267.73] Stephen: where they're like mean people who are successful in enjoying themselves
[1271.73] Stephen: because they're somehow going to be a target for everyone else.
[1274.73] Stephen: But, you know, that's a weird anachronism of their culture, perhaps.
[1280.73] Jack: Casa, if you're listening to this, it's okay.
[1284.73] Jack: I will die of dysentery by the time you...
[1290.73] Jack: What do they call it?
[1292.73] Jack: Expedite me.
[1294.73] Stephen: That's right.
[1295.73] Stephen: If they expedite you, it means you're dying of dysentery faster.
[1298.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[1300.73] Tony: It probably is, though.
[1302.73] Stephen: So instead of an hour and a half, it could be down to 20 minutes.
[1306.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1310.73] Stephen: You really shouldn't have let all those tube trains, you know?
[1312.73] Stephen: I'm pretty sure people tell you not to do it.
[1314.73] Jack: They are delicious.
[1316.73] Stephen: So tasty, I know.
[1317.73] Jack: It smells so tasty everywhere.
[1319.73] Jack: It's amazing.
[1321.73] Jack: I did do a bit of soldering at Stevens.
[1325.73] Jack: I may or may not have done a bit of soldering on the Gatwick Express.
[1332.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1333.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1334.73] Koel: And, wait, is that the one that you showed me, Jan?
[1338.73] Jack: Maybe, yeah.
[1340.73] Jack: Can that confirm nor deny?
[1342.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1343.73] Jack: There's definitely not photographic evidence.
[1346.73] Stephen: Can you confirm whether the phone chargers on the Gatwick Express are enough to run a USB power supply?
[1353.73] Jack: No, I didn't do that.
[1356.73] Jack: I forgot my power supply, annoyingly.
[1360.73] Jack: I know.
[1361.73] Jack: I now own a host of charger, T6, as recommended by our favorite Woodcane dealer.
[1373.73] Koel: Yes, a T6.
[1375.73] Koel: I would say, I just put it back in the box when I'm done with it because it has a little foamy thing in it.
[1383.73] Koel: And it also comes with a little, I guess, what is this, XT30 to XT60?
[1389.73] Koel: Yeah.
[1390.73] Koel: I never used it before.
[1391.73] Koel: But, yeah, this thing is super great.
[1393.73] Koel: Oh, look, there's Currie.
[1395.73] Koel: It's like super tiny.
[1397.73] Koel: It's a power delivery one.
[1399.73] Koel: Yep.
[1400.73] Koel: It does XT60 or PD and up to success.
[1404.73] Koel: And it's got a lot of really good modes in it, too.
[1407.73] Koel: It's more versatile than the toolkit RC one, I noticed, the small toolkit one.
[1412.73] Stephen: Very nice.
[1413.73] Stephen: So does storage charge?
[1414.73] Stephen: Some of those little ones, they don't do any discharging because they can't get rid of the heat, I guess.
[1419.73] Koel: Yeah, so this one, if you can see, it has a big fan and also the heat sink in the back there.
[1423.73] Koel: Just a big chunk of metal or aluminum, whatever.
[1426.73] Koel: Yep.
[1427.73] Koel: It's so handy because, well, especially if you're traveling, like this thing is super key.
[1434.73] Koel: It's like shove it in your pocket, shove it in your backpack pocket.
[1438.73] Koel: You don't have to bring a huge power supply.
[1440.73] Koel: If you're traveling with a laptop, you've already got probably a USB-C brick and a cable.
[1446.73] Koel: Super handy.
[1447.73] Stephen: You could charge it off if you're on the go.
[1451.73] Stephen: You can just get your USB power bank and run that.
[1454.73] Koel: Literally.
[1455.73] Stephen: Yeah, it's in charge of that.
[1457.73] Koel: Honestly, it was one of the, basically the last time that I, well, when I went traveling at the start of this year,
[1463.73] Koel: I was like, I don't want to bring four chargers and multiple power supplies and big chunky power supplies and stuff.
[1471.73] Koel: So I brought this.
[1473.73] Koel: I brought the other small toolkit RC one that has two inputs.
[1478.73] Koel: And then what else did I bring?
[1480.73] Koel: And then it was just, I got a very small power supply that's the same size as like a MacBook one.
[1486.73] Koel: And that was perfect.
[1488.73] Koel: I could charge three at a time and advanced.
[1492.73] Jack: Cole, can you show the wood cutting video?
[1496.73] Jack: Oh, me chopping wood.
[1498.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1500.73] Tony: I'm not taking you camping.
[1502.73] Tony: No, I don't.
[1504.73] Stephen: You have to have a bad shirt on to do it.
[1507.73] Stephen: I was surprised.
[1508.73] Stephen: I wasn't even tired yet.
[1512.73] Koel: And you know what?
[1514.73] Koel: I didn't have the proper power stance either because I wasn't like mounting.
[1519.73] Koel: You'll see in a second.
[1520.73] Koel: I was, I was ready to chop my own leg off basically.
[1524.73] Jack: Well, no, because you, you were the furthest.
[1527.73] Jack: You placed the wood furthest away from you.
[1531.73] Jack: So the act should be the stock before your theory.
[1536.73] Koel: I mean, I did put half a brain cell into it before I decided to take a sharp axe to some wood near my body.
[1543.73] Stephen: I did a lot of wood chopping when I was a kid.
[1546.73] Stephen: And people would just give you the axe and go, hey, figure it out.
[1552.73] Koel: There was actually kind of a big knot in this one because all the other ones I got, I was able to be pretty much first tried through.
[1558.73] Koel: But then that in true Canadian fashion.
[1562.73] Stephen: But I do think if you had the correct shirts on, you would have been through that one.
[1567.73] Stephen: No.
[1568.73] Stephen: Oh, I think so too.
[1569.73] Jack: I think so too.
[1571.73] Jack: I have.
[1573.73] Jack: Speaking.
[1575.73] Jack: Curry.
[1576.73] Jack: Hello.
[1577.73] Jack: He was shooting guns and shooting guns.
[1581.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1583.73] Jack: You were like a regular.
[1585.73] Curry: It was full of gangster.
[1588.73] Curry: I was.
[1589.73] Curry: I shot so many guns, mostly because I have a power in Florida.
[1596.73] Curry: It was first to me and I asked him if he could help me find a place to fish, which we did.
[1601.73] Curry: We also said, do you want to come to the range with me and fire some guns?
[1606.73] Curry: I was like, I might be in general.
[1611.73] Curry: And being English, I've not been around guns.
[1615.73] Curry: And I noticed, hey, the shops insane.
[1618.73] Curry: It looks like an armory.
[1621.73] Curry: And when you get in the range, I'm walking along and the guys are just sat there talking to me.
[1627.73] Curry: And I'm going like this every two seconds because a gunshot goes off like that, which I could not get used to.
[1634.73] Curry: And they're just like, it's like, you know, outside, do that inside here.
[1639.73] Curry: It's okay.
[1640.73] Curry: But yeah, I shot bizarre amounts of guns, like a forty five.
[1646.73] Curry: A magnum forty four, three fifty seven.
[1649.73] Curry: Oh, my one.
[1650.73] Curry: I can't.
[1651.73] Curry: An Uzi.
[1652.73] Curry: An Ozi.
[1654.73] Curry: Yeah, an Uzi.
[1656.73] Curry: My old fish thing.
[1657.73] Curry: How the hell did you get a gun permit from Uzi?
[1659.73] Curry: What's the excuse for that one?
[1661.73] Curry: As long as it's a semi, you can fire an Uzi.
[1665.73] Curry: A Uzi is surprisingly funny.
[1667.73] Curry: Were you surprisingly correct when foreign?
[1669.73] Curry: No, it was very scary.
[1671.73] Curry: And anyone's ass, Curry.
[1673.73] Curry: Plus, we didn't have we didn't have the stock for the Uzi.
[1676.73] Curry: And he's like, hold it.
[1677.73] Curry: The guy showing me how to do this is like a colonel that was in the Rangers, like super highly trained and stuff.
[1684.73] Curry: So he's like, hold it out and you fire it.
[1686.73] Curry: And it's like he's really heavy to hold out and shake, shake, shake.
[1691.73] Curry: And this one called the eight, which is like a rifle that can fire like a thousand yards.
[1696.73] Curry: And every time I find it, albeit accurately, it's like being kicked in the shoulder.
[1701.73] Curry: It's bruise coming up.
[1705.73] Tony: The biggest I've fired is a fishy cow.
[1708.73] Tony: That was in Scotland.
[1709.73] Koel: Oh, no big deal.
[1712.73] Koel: It was amazing.
[1714.73] Koel: Dislocated shoulder after.
[1716.73] Koel: Oh, hang on.
[1718.73] Tony: The lay down.
[1720.73] Tony: And gun.
[1721.73] Tony: Sniper rifle.
[1723.73] Curry: Sniper rifle, mate.
[1724.73] Curry: There's my skills.
[1726.73] Curry: We hit things.
[1729.73] Tony: Oh, I'm bad.
[1730.73] Curry: Wow.
[1731.73] Curry: Yeah, they were all right.
[1732.73] Curry: Yeah, definitely.
[1733.73] Curry: The right.
[1734.73] Curry: Because you get to sort of, you know, do this as opposed to.
[1740.73] Tony: Dirty Harry starts.
[1743.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1744.73] Jack: That's funny.
[1746.73] Jack: Tony's old enough where handguns was illegal in the UK.
[1750.73] Jack: Yes.
[1752.73] Curry: They had caliber rifles in there and they cost like 19 grand.
[1759.73] Curry: Huge things.
[1760.73] Curry: And the bullets like this big.
[1762.73] Curry: And it's like ten dollars a bullet.
[1764.73] Curry: So yeah, I'll be fairly rich to buy one and like practice.
[1768.73] Curry: Yeah.
[1769.73] Curry: And I said to like the guys in the gun stops, which hopefully enough were pretty, pretty
[1773.73] Curry: normal guys.
[1774.73] Curry: I did expect like slight psychopaths, but they were fine.
[1778.73] Curry: And he said he sells like one a month.
[1780.73] Curry: So there is scary for all these guys with these 50 caliber rifles at home.
[1786.73] Jack: Just like you were saying with the cars, Jack, right?
[1790.73] Jack: They don't fire him.
[1791.73] Jack: It'll ruin the rifle.
[1792.73] Jack: And they get naked and rub them against their bodies.
[1796.73] Stephen: Americans are like, well, you say that, but there's a lot of fetishism around firearms
[1802.73] Jack: and the culture there.
[1805.73] Jack: Speaking of Curry, have you started playing death stranded to you?
[1808.73] Curry: No, I'm still in the middle of Claire, whatever expedition 33.
[1816.73] Curry: I can't move on until we finish it.
[1819.73] Tony: It's death standing.
[1820.73] Tony: The one where he walking around with a backpack.
[1822.73] Jack: Yes.
[1823.73] Jack: But I hear there's a lot of feet in it.
[1825.73] Jack: Me and Curry got into feet because of Dr. Decca.
[1829.73] Jack: Well, there's only a certain girls as well.
[1834.73] Jack: Yeah.
[1835.73] Jack: A black tar.
[1837.73] Frank: Pure cinema.
[1865.73] Tony: We've run out of drawing topics.
[1867.73] Tony: We're talking about feet and guns.
[1869.73] Tony: Yeah.
[1870.73] Curry: I've got my gun video.
[1871.73] Curry: If you want me to show it, I shared it with you guys by quick clips.
[1875.73] Curry: Let me see if I can find it.
[1876.73] Stephen: I'm just waiting.
[1877.73] Stephen: Did I ever have your system to come out?
[1879.73] Stephen: I'm waiting.
[1880.73] Koel: Did I ever show you guys my DJI stuff?
[1882.73] Koel: I got some new stuff.
[1883.73] Koel: Do it now.
[1884.73] Koel: So I did a test plate lower ish light like not.
[1889.73] Koel: It was around sunset ish.
[1891.73] Koel: And where is it?
[1893.73] Koel: Oh, Jack's gone.
[1896.73] Koel: Their screen.
[1898.73] Koel: Yeah.
[1899.73] Koel: So I did a test plate and it looks pretty darn good.
[1905.73] Tony: Is this is this no GoPro?
[1907.73] Tony: This is just like this is straight up DJI.
[1910.73] Koel: Oh, for pro no GoPro.
[1914.73] Tony: You like it.
[1915.73] Tony: Are you liking it now?
[1918.73] Tony: Because you watch a video and you're like, I don't know if I like it.
[1922.73] Tony: I always apply in 24 frames.
[1925.73] Tony: Okay.
[1926.73] Tony: I think that's the best cinematic looking frame rate there is.
[1930.73] Koel: Yeah.
[1931.73] Koel: So this is it.
[1932.73] Koel: Here's the thing.
[1933.73] Koel: I've only thrown three thrown.
[1935.73] Koel: I've only flown three packs of it so far and the first two I wasn't
[1943.73] Koel: exactly feeling it and I was also applying at 30 frames per second.
[1946.73] Koel: So there was extended latency on that.
[1949.73] Koel: This pack I was flying at a higher frame rate and so it was less latency
[1955.73] Koel: and it seems to look pretty frickin good.
[1959.73] Koel: The only thing that I wasn't the biggest fan of was like, how crazy
[1963.73] Koel: wide the field of view is, especially in flying with 16 by nine
[1967.73] Koel: because I'm used to four by three where all my OSD elements are
[1970.73] Koel: kind of like in a square where when the field of view is so wide
[1973.73] Koel: and it's 16 by nine.
[1974.73] Koel: It's horrible.
[1975.73] Koel: I can't even see.
[1977.73] Koel: I can't even see the OSD unless I like not looking at where I'm
[1980.73] Koel: flying.
[1981.73] Tony: And then I'm like, you just put it in four by three.
[1986.73] Tony: Yeah.
[1987.73] Stephen: I just have my elements, dude.
[1989.73] Stephen: There's nothing that says you can't have the OSD elements like in
[1993.73] Stephen: like 20 percent screen.
[1996.73] Stephen: You can just crowd them all in there.
[1998.73] Stephen: They don't need to be at the corners.
[2000.73] Koel: That's true.
[2001.73] Koel: I guess I'm just used to putting them on the corners of my analog
[2003.73] Koel: stuff.
[2004.73] Stephen: But like, yeah, don't I guess just shove them all right in there
[2007.73] Stephen: and then you've got proof if you need it.
[2009.73] Stephen: But you can just be right in the center of the frame all the time.
[2012.73] Tony: Just change that.
[2013.73] Tony: Don't fly in 16 by nine.
[2015.73] Tony: Fly back.
[2016.73] Tony: Or you can stream it down.
[2018.73] Stephen: It screws with the recording on the latest DJI stuff tone, I think.
[2022.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2023.73] Koel: I think that that was one of the things that I was worried about
[2025.73] Koel: was like, I prefer flying in four by three.
[2029.73] Koel: So you can't fly in four by three and recording six by nine.
[2032.73] Stephen: They introduced some weirdness with the four.
[2034.73] Stephen: I think.
[2035.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2036.73] Stephen: I don't know for sure if you can or if you can't.
[2039.73] Stephen: Change something about it changed.
[2041.73] Stephen: I don't know.
[2042.73] Stephen: Caroline or no.
[2043.73] Stephen: I'm sure she's fine.
[2044.73] Koel: Even if you fly losing it is like I would like to just fly and it's
[2051.73] Koel: done.
[2052.73] Koel: If I find four by three, then I'm going to have to gyro flow it
[2056.73] Koel: back to 16 by nine.
[2058.73] Koel: So that's not what I mean.
[2061.73] Stephen: The idea is you fly with one view and then one goes on to your
[2065.73] Stephen: micro SD card is extra.
[2068.73] Frank: Yeah.
[2069.73] Stephen: Can you do that?
[2070.73] Stephen: I have to look that up.
[2071.73] Stephen: You used to be able to, but I'm not sure you can in the new ones.
[2074.73] Stephen: Caroline says shoot in four by three and reframe to our
[2077.73] Stephen: speculation.
[2078.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2079.73] Stephen: Reframing is a pain in the butt.
[2080.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2081.73] Stephen: Extra stuff.
[2082.73] Stephen: Fly and you're just taking like a crop into the goggles and you
[2085.73] Stephen: can fly like that and not worry about the wide stuff.
[2088.73] Stephen: That's the, that's the thing too is like anyway, then you might
[2091.73] Stephen: as well just shove 16 by nine.
[2093.73] Tony: I guess the other side of it is like a few flying that way.
[2098.73] Tony: I'm not sure that view than that view.
[2101.73] Koel: I guess you're saying Steven, like put the OSC elements more
[2106.73] Koel: in, but you know what?
[2107.73] Koel: That actually does make more sense because I'm not looking on
[2110.73] Koel: those sides of the frame.
[2111.73] Koel: So you don't have to keep it sideways to find all the voltages.
[2115.73] Koel: I guess at the same time though, it's like the closer there's
[2118.73] Koel: other things and like little stuff flipping around like in my
[2121.73] Koel: field of view, the more I'm used to with the analog.
[2124.73] Koel: It's like I'm flying.
[2125.73] Koel: I can go like this.
[2127.73] Koel: I can go like this and I'm just barely moving my eyes like
[2130.73] Koel: there's a little bit to see what I'm doing with DJI.
[2133.73] Koel: I'm like, where is my OSC?
[2136.73] Curry: Where is my OSC?
[2139.73] Curry: Yeah.
[2140.73] Curry: I'm all right because I've always kept my OSC elements right in
[2143.73] Curry: the sides because I want to keep them middle free.
[2146.73] Curry: Exactly.
[2147.73] Curry: I've used to glancing on one of the corners.
[2149.73] Stephen: Yeah, same.
[2150.73] Curry: I don't find it too bad because even though like the out to
[2156.73] Curry: the side of the screen, which would take you something to
[2158.73] Curry: look at, I'm mostly focused here anyway.
[2161.73] Curry: And there's only if I need to do something that I have to
[2163.73] Curry: look around.
[2164.73] Stephen: I'd really like to just fly with as much of the full sensor
[2167.73] Stephen: as possible because I like to move the lens distortion and
[2171.73] Stephen: get it down to 16 by nine with no lens distortion because
[2174.73] Stephen: all the screens I'm viewing the stuff on like my computer
[2177.73] Stephen: screen, the TV screen, tablets, they're all 16 by nine mostly.
[2182.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2183.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2184.73] Stephen: So I'm just trying to find stuff that works at 16 by nine.
[2187.73] Stephen: And if I'm flying 16 by nine, I know where the edge of the
[2189.73] Stephen: frame is and I can frame it.
[2192.73] Stephen: And I don't then end up with any inadvertent distortion when
[2196.73] Stephen: I go from four three up to 16 by nine and you end up with that
[2200.73] Stephen: kind of fast edges, slow sensor thing.
[2203.73] Stephen: It's not really.
[2204.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2205.73] Stephen: It's not.
[2206.73] Koel: But when I went with GoPro, if I would if when I'm using a
[2211.73] Koel: GoPro, I would use like like Superview or Hyperview like it
[2215.73] Koel: looks insane on the edges and like everybody gets so like
[2218.73] Koel: whatever about it.
[2220.73] Koel: But at the same time, when I fly in eight by seven or like the
[2225.73] Koel: four basically four by three type mode and then I gyro flow
[2229.73] Koel: it into 16 by nine, it actually does.
[2232.73] Koel: You don't really get it pretty much takes away that that
[2235.73] Koel: distortion you're speaking of.
[2237.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2238.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2239.73] Koel: I mean, there's still a bit and maybe if you shoot or you
[2241.73] Koel: get to shoot wide, at least in the newer GoPros, if you shoot
[2244.73] Koel: wide with eight by seven, then gyro flow it to 16 by nine.
[2248.73] Koel: It looks pretty damn good.
[2251.73] Koel: But for some reason, though, it's weird.
[2254.73] Koel: For freestyle videos, I actually prefer the ridiculously
[2258.73] Koel: extended hyper, whatever, Hyperview or whatever.
[2264.73] Koel: A little bit.
[2265.73] Koel: I think it looks cool.
[2266.73] Koel: But then we get to the complaining of the horizons all
[2268.73] Koel: like an S.
[2269.73] Koel: It's like, whatever.
[2271.73] Curry: I like to not have to do anything in post-processing.
[2274.73] Curry: That would be my most important.
[2276.73] Curry: Yeah.
[2279.73] Koel: Well, my most well, the trip that I did at the start of this
[2282.73] Koel: year.
[2283.73] Koel: Well, sorry, this trip I did last year, I pretty much shot
[2287.73] Koel: exclusively in 16 by nine Hyperview.
[2290.73] Koel: And I was like, okay, this trip this year, I'm going to shoot
[2293.73] Koel: only in eight by seven.
[2296.73] Koel: I can convert it back to Hyperview if I really want to.
[2300.73] Koel: But I want to see like, okay, does it matter?
[2305.73] Koel: I mean, can I deal with the extra step?
[2307.73] Koel: I don't know.
[2308.73] Stephen: We'll see.
[2310.73] Stephen: We shall see.
[2311.73] Stephen: What's your workflow like then?
[2313.73] Stephen: Let me go first and you can contrast it.
[2316.73] Stephen: I have a super basic workflow.
[2318.73] Stephen: I take the card, run it through Gyroflow.
[2321.73] Stephen: I attempt to lock it off and avoid it flipping around too
[2324.73] Stephen: much so it doesn't go crazy if I do flips.
[2328.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2329.73] Stephen: Make sure there's not too much wobble.
[2331.73] Stephen: But I really try and get as much of the frame as possible
[2333.73] Stephen: and then push to remove lens distortion.
[2336.73] Stephen: You know, that's a couple of clips out while I'm in
[2339.73] Stephen: Gyroflow and export those clips and upload them to YouTube.
[2342.73] Stephen: And I'm done.
[2343.73] Stephen: So I have a very bare bones workflow.
[2345.73] Stephen: But what is yours look like compared to that?
[2348.73] Koel: So if I'm flying GoPro or even with this new DJI-04 in
[2354.73] Koel: 16 by 9, whether I'm on the super wide view or the
[2358.73] Koel: Hyperview or whatever you want to call it, I basically do,
[2364.73] Koel: if I am going to just, whatever, just like super wide view,
[2367.73] Koel: I'm doing stabilization in camera no matter what system.
[2370.73] Koel: I'm doing the widest I can.
[2372.73] Koel: I'm plugging the SD card on my computer straight to the
[2375.73] Koel: editor, not touching a damn thing.
[2377.73] Koel: If I'm shooting in the more like square 4 by 3 or 8 by 7
[2382.73] Koel: aspect ratio, similar to how you're doing it,
[2385.73] Koel: it's going straight into Gyroflow.
[2387.73] Koel: Well, first things first, I got to find the clips that
[2389.73] Koel: actually look, that are usable obviously,
[2391.73] Koel: but then put those into Gyroflow.
[2394.73] Koel: One cool thing that I like about Gyroflow for long clips is
[2396.73] Koel: that it automatically senses that it's a broken up clip
[2400.73] Koel: and it compiles it together for you.
[2403.73] Koel: But then I pretty much just slap on whatever the
[2406.73] Koel: GoPro's preset is to make it normal.
[2410.73] Koel: I might up it a little bit to get rid of some of that
[2414.73] Koel: distortion on the outsides, but I don't really like when
[2418.73] Koel: it does like the whole like this thing where like the
[2421.73] Koel: background and the foreground when you turn,
[2423.73] Koel: it kind of does like that weird like sort of work.
[2427.73] Koel: So I actually have it almost on like the lightest
[2430.73] Koel: settings possible.
[2433.73] Koel: And that's basically it.
[2435.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2436.73] Koel: Like as minimal, when it comes to anything with post,
[2439.73] Koel: like as minimal as possible.
[2442.73] Curry: Yeah.
[2444.73] Curry: I'm with, I'm with Carl there basically,
[2447.73] Curry: where it's a GoPro or a DJI,
[2450.73] Curry: it's in a stable camera,
[2453.73] Curry: camera stabilization.
[2454.73] Curry: And then it goes on the edge.
[2455.73] Curry: The only thing I ever have to mess with Gyroflow is
[2460.73] Curry: if I'm using walks now,
[2463.73] Curry: and that is just a pretty light pass because if you go
[2467.73] Curry: too heavy on it,
[2469.73] Curry: it doesn't look like it's proper flying anymore.
[2471.73] Curry: It just looks like it's some smoothness.
[2474.73] Curry: And you're right.
[2475.73] Curry: I hate that.
[2476.73] Curry: It almost looks like a dolly zoom where you get that.
[2479.73] Curry: Yeah.
[2480.73] Curry: It looks weird.
[2481.73] Curry: Yeah.
[2482.73] Curry: I'm trying to go.
[2483.73] Stephen: There's like a zoom speed control and I often find
[2486.73] Stephen: myself jockeying around with that because you can,
[2489.73] Stephen: you can force it to go on a really slow zoom and you get,
[2493.73] Stephen: you re-reduce that dolly effect,
[2495.73] Stephen: which is it just suddenly deciding,
[2497.73] Stephen: oh wait,
[2498.73] Stephen: because you're spinning around like,
[2500.73] Stephen: and you're doing a roll.
[2501.73] Stephen: Oh, well,
[2502.73] Stephen: I'm going to have to lose the sides of it because I,
[2504.73] Stephen: I need to just go right to the center of the frame to hide
[2507.73] Stephen: the fact that you've just done a 360 roll.
[2509.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2510.73] Stephen: And that's why it does those punch in zooms and then comes
[2512.73] Stephen: out again.
[2513.73] Stephen: And you can just be like,
[2514.73] Stephen: there is a setting in gyro flow where you can be like,
[2516.73] Stephen: no, shut up.
[2517.73] Stephen: Just don't stabilize it that much.
[2519.73] Stephen: Just keep it out.
[2520.73] Stephen: And if you're going to roll,
[2521.73] Stephen: we'll just let it roll.
[2522.73] Stephen: Don't try and lock it down that hard.
[2525.73] Stephen: But it's funny because I actually just,
[2527.73] Koel: yeah,
[2528.73] Koel: I just opened gyro flow now.
[2530.73] Koel: The smoothness slider,
[2532.73] Koel: I literally put it at like 3%.
[2534.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2535.73] Koel: The zoom limit,
[2536.73] Koel: I put it at like 110% and the zooming speed.
[2539.73] Koel: I put like,
[2540.73] Koel: what is it?
[2541.73] Koel: Like two seconds or something like that,
[2542.73] Stephen: slow down that zoom speed and then it avoids the weirdness
[2545.73] Stephen: where it feels like someone's frozen the video and is just
[2548.73] Stephen: like zooming it in.
[2550.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2551.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2552.73] Koel: It's not like,
[2553.73] Koel: it's like your dad with a cam quarterback and you're playing
[2554.73] Koel: soccer as a kid.
[2555.73] Koel: He's the cup and zoom rocker.
[2556.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2557.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2558.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2559.73] Koel: I know.
[2560.73] Koel: I think when it comes to anything,
[2561.73] Koel: whether it's like stabilization or effects or whatever,
[2564.73] Koel: it's like the less you use actually the better.
[2567.73] Koel: Like it's really easy to overdo it.
[2569.73] Stephen: And BRC says he tries to just disable dynamic zoom entirely.
[2573.73] Stephen: And I think if you can,
[2574.73] Stephen: that looks ideal if you can just be like,
[2576.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2577.73] Stephen: I'm going to lose like 20% around the edges of my frame.
[2580.73] Stephen: And I'm good with that.
[2581.73] Stephen: You just leave it back through the entire flight.
[2584.73] Stephen: And then,
[2585.73] Stephen: you know,
[2586.73] Stephen: your viewport can slide around in the frame as it needs to,
[2588.73] Stephen: but it doesn't need to zoom in and out during the flight.
[2591.73] Stephen: That looks a lot better.
[2592.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2593.73] Koel: I also think that the,
[2595.73] Koel: what a lot of these cameras,
[2597.73] Koel: when they do the built in stabilization,
[2599.73] Koel: like that is basically covering,
[2601.73] Koel: I would say 90 or more percent of the bases there.
[2605.73] Koel: Like,
[2606.73] Koel: like I don't need it.
[2607.73] Koel: I don't need it to be like butter.
[2610.73] Koel: I mean,
[2611.73] Koel: smooth is nice,
[2612.73] Koel: but you don't need it to be like a floating cloud or whatever.
[2615.73] Stephen: I don't know.
[2616.73] Stephen: My first action cam was an Insta360.
[2618.73] Stephen: So I've just kind of got used to off the flight stabilization.
[2621.73] Stephen: That was my normal.
[2622.73] Stephen: I didn't start with those rows.
[2624.73] Tony: I started,
[2625.73] Tony: I was flying with this and a Mobius.
[2627.73] Tony: So I taught myself to fly smooth because we had back in the day,
[2631.73] Tony: no stabilization,
[2633.73] Tony: no gyro flying a tricopter.
[2636.73] Tony: So go back to this and learn how to fly smooth.
[2640.73] Tony: That's what I say.
[2641.73] Stephen: And honestly,
[2642.73] Stephen: it's a bouncy prop to take before it took off every day.
[2646.73] Jack: I've tried to fly the race flight for years.
[2650.73] Jack: Oh,
[2651.73] Jack: ignoring his bestest quad friend about.
[2654.73] Jack: Yes.
[2655.73] Jack: I love it.
[2656.73] Tony: Right.
[2657.73] Tony: But they,
[2658.73] Tony: they turn around a bit too much.
[2660.73] Tony: There was some really good stuff when they first did it flew.
[2665.73] Stephen: You had to keep it in the box.
[2667.73] Stephen: Didn't you had to keep it in the box,
[2668.73] Stephen: but he got the cover next year,
[2670.73] Stephen: your first edition comic books.
[2672.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2673.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2674.73] Koel: I'm very proud of this that I was able to source one.
[2679.73] Koel: I did open it to test it and I did put a little cover on it,
[2682.73] Koel: but I'm afraid.
[2683.73] Koel: Wait, hold on.
[2684.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2685.73] Koel: It's this thing.
[2686.73] Koel: These things will go into a fricking FTV museum at some point.
[2690.73] Tony: Yeah.
[2691.73] Koel: I got two.
[2692.73] Koel: I'll still use.
[2693.73] Tony: These are quite dented.
[2696.73] Tony: They've,
[2697.73] Tony: they've got the BB marks in in them because I wear them through
[2702.73] Tony: my cap on my head when I'm playing airsoft.
[2706.73] Tony: So yeah.
[2707.73] Tony: I'm going to get it.
[2708.73] Stephen: Okay.
[2709.73] Stephen: We'll just shoot them ahead with a BB gun.
[2712.73] Tony: Yeah.
[2713.73] Koel: Yeah.
[2714.73] Koel: As Alan Victor said,
[2715.73] Koel: session five,
[2716.73] Koel: the best freestyle camera ever.
[2718.73] Tony: Yeah.
[2719.73] Tony: Cause it makes you fly properly.
[2720.73] Tony: That's fine.
[2721.73] Stephen: Yeah.
[2722.73] Stephen: And you're doing anything about the Mobius being the best freestyle camera
[2725.73] Stephen: ever.
[2726.73] Stephen: I wonder.
[2727.73] Stephen: Maybe.
[2728.73] Stephen: This is crap.
[2729.73] Koel: Speaking of speaking of action cameras,
[2732.73] Koel: like session fives.
[2734.73] Koel: I am giving away a light bulb and actually it's not a light bulb.
[2741.73] Koel: It's a, oh, come on.
[2744.73] Koel: Oh,
[2745.73] Koel: Oh,
[2746.73] Koel: Oh,
[2747.73] Koel: Oh,
[2748.73] Koel: Oh,
[2749.73] Koel: Oh,
[2750.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2751.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2752.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2753.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2754.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2755.73] Stephen: Oh,
[2756.73] Koel: Oh,
[2757.73] Koel: Oh,
[2758.73] Koel: Oh,
[2759.73] Koel: Oh,
[2760.73] Koel: Oh,
[2761.73] Koel: Oh,
[2762.73] Koel: Oh,
[2763.73] Koel: Oh,
[2764.73] Koel: We.
[2765.73] Koel: I choose this now.
[2766.73] Koel: I went.
[2767.73] Koel: Oh,
[2768.73] Koel: Oh,
[2769.73] Koel: Oh.
[2770.73] Koel: Oh,
[2771.73] Koel: Oh,
[2772.73] Koel: Oh,
[2773.73] Tony: Oh,
[2774.73] Koel: Oh,
[2785.71] Koel: Oh,
[2786.73] Koel: Oh,
[2787.73] Koel: Oh,
[2788.73] Koel: Oh,
[2789.73] Koel: Oh,
[2790.73] Koel: Oh,
[2791.73] Koel: Oh,
[2792.73] Koel: things coming back because you talk about DJI crap and kiss everybody off.
[2800.09] Tony: Did you like the blades of grass? Like, do you, do you understand?
[2803.69] Tony: The most, the most beautiful blade with grass I've ever seen Tony.
[2809.17] Koel: No, you know what? Like it is nice. The image quality and,
[2813.41] Koel: and what you can get out of those standalone, like on board,
[2817.33] Koel: no extra camera, whatever. It's, it's unreal.
[2821.09] Koel: Like imagine what the old five air unit is going to be like.
[2824.81] Koel: It's going to be ridiculous. It's going to be incompatible with everything else.
[2831.73] Koel: It's going to go out of business.
[2833.89] Tony: Well, they need to step up.
[2835.49] Tony: They're going GoPro cause they're going to go out anyway.
[2838.57] Tony: I should have done more software stuff before hardware. Anyway,
[2841.69] Tony: if you ask me that all their software is always crash on everything I've got.
[2845.37] Curry: I think the hardware is the problem.
[2847.45] Curry: They started running more and more demanding stuff on the same chipset.
[2851.01] Curry: And it's like, let's just overheat. I saw the last,
[2854.33] Curry: the last one I saw where some guy compared it with the,
[2858.81] Curry: the Insta 360 action camera type thing. They said,
[2862.97] Curry: what I want to do is like see how long the battery will last.
[2866.13] Curry: And of course the GoPro just overheated before it got to the end of the battery.
[2870.13] Curry: It was the Insta just went on. True. True.
[2873.53] Curry: So my next, my next action camera would be an Insta anyway.
[2877.29] Koel: So speaking of Insta 360 and GoPro,
[2879.81] Koel: I don't know if you guys saw any news or anything recently about it,
[2883.09] Koel: but apparently a judge had found that Insta 360
[2888.13] Koel: violated GoPro's intellectual property.
[2890.89] Koel: And they just got the crashes.
[2892.49] Stephen: The word smooth in their marketing materials.
[2896.37] Koel: I don't know. I honestly, I didn't really watch the whole thing.
[2898.49] Koel: I just saw the headlines and was like,
[2902.29] Stephen: it was a very exciting stuff.
[2904.09] Stephen: It's more like dodgy patterns where you don't actually have the original idea,
[2908.45] Stephen: but you call it smooth or you call it flow and therefore, oh, yep.
[2912.73] Koel: Can't do that. Well, it's the same as this light bulb.
[2915.45] Koel: So this light bulb has a view called XV.
[2919.41] Koel: They couldn't call it super view because of GoPro.
[2921.93] Koel: It's called XV, which I assume is extended view. Yeah.
[2925.57] Curry: One of, one of the pay-ins holds,
[2927.65] Curry: one of the pay-ins that GoPro holds as far as I'm aware is specifically about
[2931.97] Curry: in-camera smoothie as opposed to anything else.
[2935.65] Curry: And this is where I was, I was quite surprised that like Insta could do it.
[2939.97] Curry: And I think DJI do it, but call it something different.
[2944.29] Curry: Yeah. Oh, mine does. My, my X3.
[2948.37] Curry: You can do like a horizon lock and all sorts.
[2951.25] Curry: So I wonder when this is going to come up.
[2953.21] Curry: But yeah, these are the pay-ins that are the ideas pay-ins, which I,
[2959.33] Curry: I have a huge amount of assistance to because it's like
[2963.53] Curry: they haven't stolen an invention, they haven't copied something.
[2967.09] Curry: They've, they've implemented their own ideas about how it's done,
[2970.89] Curry: which is like you could argue is a novel, a different approach to it, which is.
[2975.33] Stephen: And new normal pay-ins are beholden to criteria,
[2979.53] Stephen: which insists that it must not be obvious to anyone educated in the art.
[2986.05] Stephen: I think that's roughly the wording.
[2988.01] Stephen: The idea should not be obvious or evident to anyone educated in the art.
[2993.25] Stephen: And to smooth something in a camera when you're dealing with a camera
[2997.57] Stephen: that is undergoing irregular vibrations or motion,
[3002.41] Stephen: the notion of smoothing in the camera is bloody obvious to everyone.
[3007.01] Stephen: And it's trivial. And there's so many ways to do it.
[3009.85] Stephen: It's infuriating. They claim, oh, yeah, it's ours.
[3013.57] Stephen: Just as a technology patent, it wouldn't wouldn't fly at all.
[3017.93] Jack: It's a joke.
[3019.13] Jack: Do you remember, do you remember CD portable CD players
[3022.81] Jack: that didn't have the skip function and used to have to walk for me
[3026.49] Jack: to keep your legs smooth? Yeah. Oh, yeah.
[3030.17] Jack: I think GoPro is going to come after those people back in the like early 90s,
[3034.69] Jack: like late 90s. Question of what does obvious count as now?
[3038.45] Stephen: Like surely anyone that's looked at an action camera
[3042.41] Stephen: and strapped it onto a radio control car or something,
[3045.09] Stephen: thinking it's going to be like they're driving, you know, some supercar.
[3050.77] Stephen: They're just instantly distressed by how crap it looks
[3053.45] Stephen: and the obvious thing they think of as well.
[3055.37] Stephen: Hmm. If only the camera could like move around the bit
[3058.73] Stephen: that's actually being recorded to reflect like a center portion of the image
[3063.61] Stephen: and then use a gyro to lock that off and keep it pointed in the same direction.
[3068.85] Stephen: It would be really obvious to any engineer that looked at it.
[3072.01] Stephen: Yeah. How they got those patents is very strange.
[3077.01] Koel: You can get I guess like if you're the first to do it, right?
[3079.73] Stephen: Like when I'm going to be non-obvious at the same time,
[3083.29] Stephen: you can't paint a bucket for carrying water
[3085.97] Stephen: just because no one else has got to pay for a bucket, you know,
[3088.69] Curry: that's not how it works.
[3090.13] Curry: It is IBM paint for you.
[3092.69] Curry: Doing a test from a list.
[3096.13] Curry: Literally, a list was got a patent to it.
[3099.93] Koel: Yeah, that's it. You may know.
[3103.01] Koel: Actually, we had an IBM factory one time.
[3107.17] Koel: You're welcome.
[3109.17] Koel: I flew drones around an IBM, not factory,
[3112.45] Koel: or it's like some kind of big office building factory-ish type thing.
[3116.05] Koel: That was interesting. Not really on topic, though.
[3118.41] Stephen: I don't know what the centers used to be.
[3120.01] Stephen: Old IBM shipping center, distribution center.
[3124.57] Stephen: Big old joint arena.
[3126.21] Stephen: They put in like a 10 foot floor and pumped air ducting up through the racks
[3131.41] Stephen: at that height and filled it full of servers.
[3136.97] Koel: I mean, I actually didn't...
[3138.09] Koel: I used to not know what IBM meant,
[3140.49] Koel: and then it all made sense when someone told me.
[3142.81] Stephen: International business machines.
[3144.77] Stephen: Indeed.
[3146.33] Koel: Anything new and exciting coming from you, Curry, in the future?
[3150.25] Curry: No. It's all just hell.
[3153.45] Curry: There's nothing. I haven't felt like doing anything
[3156.13] Curry: yet since I got back.
[3157.41] Curry: I've just been... I had to been and washing
[3161.45] Curry: and things like that.
[3163.25] Curry: I've got things like put a new receiver in this,
[3168.49] Curry: fix that plane that I keep crashing,
[3171.13] Curry: and do something else.
[3174.37] Curry: I can't remember it, but I'll get around to it eventually.
[3177.01] Curry: It takes me a while to get back into the swing of things,
[3179.45] Curry: because I can't remember where I was.
[3182.33] Curry: I'm so stuck.
[3183.33] Curry: It's like, why is this video half edited?
[3184.89] Curry: What am I doing? I don't know.
[3186.77] Curry: That sort of thing.
[3190.37] Tony: I've got to get back into bloody flying.
[3193.41] Tony: What I need to do before August, right?
[3196.13] Jack: Yeah.
[3198.29] Tony: I'm sure there's something...
[3200.37] Tony: I'm sure there's something that'll work.
[3202.25] Tony: I'm sure I've got quads what'll still work.
[3204.89] Tony: I hope.
[3206.01] Koel: It was mainly your radio was the problem, right?
[3209.25] Tony: Well, we think so.
[3211.29] Tony: We think it was that.
[3213.49] Tony: We're not 100%.
[3215.97] Tony: But, I mean, the thing's 11, 12 years old, I think, so...
[3220.93] Koel: Yeah.
[3222.85] Tony: I don't think it's ever been changed.
[3224.21] Tony: The only jack fiddled around with software and stuff in it.
[3227.85] Tony: But...
[3231.59] Tony: Oh, I've changed the gimbals once,
[3233.27] Tony: and that was it, to haul gimbals.
[3234.79] Tony: And...
[3237.03] Tony: We're off to sea.
[3238.79] Tony: We're off to sea.
[3240.19] Koel: Yeah.
[3241.31] Koel: It looks like Caroline Tyler is going to Spain in September.
[3244.87] Koel: Wow.
[3247.23] Koel: Spain has some incredible bandos.
[3250.11] Koel: I don't know if you're aware of this or not.
[3251.75] Koel: But if you look up Pablo Flor, I think it's like Phoenix FPV.
[3256.47] Koel: He's like the bando slayer of Spain.
[3259.51] Koel: The Spanish bando slayer.
[3261.11] Koel: Yeah.
[3262.11] Koel: Yeah.
[3263.11] Tony: Crazy.
[3264.11] Tony: Well, enjoy your holiday.
[3266.31] Koel: Enjoy.
[3267.31] Tony: Yeah.
[3268.31] Tony: When are you actually coming, Cole?
[3271.51] Koel: Um...
[3274.07] Koel: Is that very soon?
[3275.47] Koel: Very soon.
[3276.47] Koel: It's just basically top of the month.
[3280.11] Tony: Very soon, then.
[3281.11] Tony: Yeah.
[3283.11] Tony: I better get old, then.
[3285.11] Tony: Yeah.
[3286.11] Koel: Yeah, we'll have to...
[3288.11] Koel: We'll have to...
[3290.11] Koel: Get together and work some facts.
[3293.11] Jack: Yee-haw.
[3296.0] Koel: Yee-haw.
[3297.0] Tony: Yee-haw.
[3299.0] Curry: Oh, that's a low energy.
[3302.0] Curry: Apologies, Cole.
[3306.0] Koel: Ah, that's okay.
[3307.0] Koel: Honestly, I'm like...
[3310.0] Koel: I think that I've done some pretty...
[3314.0] Koel: I'm not the craziest pilot in the world ever, but I've done some pretty crazy flying in the past couple of years.
[3321.0] Koel: Honestly, I don't mind.
[3322.0] Stephen: You've done jungles, you've done flying over bridges, done all this stuff.
[3327.0] Koel: Mountain dives, bandos, crazy stuff.
[3331.0] Koel: I'm by no means the best freestyle or best pilot in general whatsoever.
[3337.0] Koel: I do kind of miss hanging out with your buddies and just going out and flying.
[3343.0] Koel: It's not a...
[3344.0] Koel: No competition, and it's like...
[3347.0] Stephen: Having a chance and catching up with people is nice, too.
[3351.0] Stephen: For sure.
[3352.0] Stephen: Yeah.
[3353.0] Stephen: Thank you, everyone, for another episode of Let's Drone Out, up to a magical 516 on Thursday the 17th of July,
[3361.0] Stephen: which I should've done at the start of the show, but I didn't.
[3365.0] Stephen: Thank you very much, everyone.
[3366.0] Stephen: You have been joined by almost everyone's favorite, CurryKizm.
[3370.0] Stephen: There's no almost.
[3373.0] Stephen: I don't know.
[3374.0] Stephen: You have to guess who it is.
[3377.0] Stephen: The wonderful Canadian working on his lumberjacking.
[3381.0] Jack: Cole.
[3385.0] Stephen: Tom Star, getting back into the hobby at some point with his collection of GoPros.
[3389.0] Stephen: August.
[3390.0] Stephen: Dax, darling, ex-wife.
[3392.0] Tony: Yeah, ex-wife.
[3394.0] Jack: Leaving it right to last minute, as always.
[3399.0] Jack: Yeah, he's literally told him not to do.
[3402.0] Stephen: Right to apply salivating at Tony's collection of GoPros, I'm sure.
[3407.0] Jack: No, I'm going to be inserting them into him.
[3412.0] Stephen: Well, that was the plan all along.
[3414.0] Stephen: I think everyone knows that.
[3415.0] Stephen: Thank you, Edison.
[3417.0] Stephen: And thanks to our wonderful Patreons scrolling past underneath,
[3420.0] Stephen: keeping most of the lights on will be some of them in a slightly decreased wattage.
[3424.0] Stephen: So if you know anyone who enjoys the show, please, please, please ask them to join our Patreon.
[3429.0] Stephen: We would enjoy it very much.

[3436.0] Curry: Bye.
[3438.0] Curry: Bye.
[3440.0] UNKNOWN: Telemetry lost.
