[18.56] Koel: Hello [20.56] Koel: Hello and welcome to let's show now. Are we still droning out? [29.04] Stephen: 500 and 23 I thought we're gonna finish I thought we were finishing each other censuses, but evidently that's not happening [37.54] Jack: We're not yeah, I know it was Cole's turn. It was I thought we're going clockwise [44.3] Koel: Hello and welcome to are we still droning out after 10 years? [50.14] Koel: Tonight you're joined by everyone's favorite mustache [54.1] Koel: Steven good evening [57.74] Koel: My buddy Jack mr. Bright until I fly other other arm [63.5] Koel: Yeah, and I'm some guy who I'm like, oh he's a human. I'm a human [69.98] Stephen: with a [71.18] Stephen: Spiffy new haircut and I see you're filming from a remote location today as well [75.98] Koel: I am as you can see there's some green. I dyed my hair slightly green. I don't even tell but [82.18] Stephen: fashionable Oh [84.46] Koel: Green screen versus a new Alexander, which is better. I don't know I could switch it around and we could try [91.42] Stephen: Because I've heard I've heard people use blue screens [105.98] Stephen: It out just in time. I think the blue is actually better. Yeah [112.26] Stephen: The eye doesn't go what's that when it sees a trace of blue as much as like it does with green I guess [117.78] Koel: Yeah, he's oh except there's some weird. I don't know. Yeah, who's who's [125.86] Jack: Going once a month [127.98] Stephen: Due to we haven't got any I want to go to the main basically no news in the world of drones since around [135.54] Stephen: 2021 yeah [138.38] Stephen: There's some there's some news there's some news out there throw that news at me [143.66] Koel: I don't know if you're gonna like it Steven. This might be this might be [148.3] Stephen: Sultra news. Oh [150.5] Koel: Oh [152.26] Koel: Is it? [153.7] Koel: You're damn right. It is [155.98] Stephen: What what now do you need a special password and then you'll be able to buy the new flight controller or do you have to? [162.78] Stephen: Meet someone in an alley somewhere in Eastern Europe and do all sorts of illegal things to them in order to get a new flight controller [171.14] Koel: No, none of that actually you just have to be cool to get one and to fly them [177.9] Jack: So what's Jack got there? It's a solenoid right to make up for it Steven [183.62] Jack: if we do talk about kiss ultra for longer than 20 minutes or [188.74] Jack: What are you gonna do with the solenoid does it fire and no no no this is a makeshift tester coil I will write it in and [196.86] Stephen: When you say makeshift town makeshift like [205.62] Koel: We need a we need a [208.62] Jack: High that's excellent [210.9] Jack: No, that means hang on. I need the right tweezers. I need the ceramic tweezers [217.94] Stephen: That's not normally a Tesla coil thing. Is it needing the right tweezers? [225.18] Jack: It's awful I [228.1] Jack: Literally the whole time I was like playing with it chatting to you on the phone [234.66] Jack: Just like cold called me up I was like the one I made and [238.42] Jack: I zap myself about 20 times [242.3] Stephen: This is just to help you like get up in the mornings. Is that stop where you're [248.06] Jack: Know what I was thinking [250.06] Jack: We don't know what [252.22] Jack: There's a tree. This is to make up for talking about [256.62] Jack: Do you want do you want them on then you want the lady kiss on me? You're just making it worse [261.74] Stephen: It's like when someone's talking about pulling a band-aid off and they just get it over with [267.62] Koel: Get it. Oh, yeah, you have to do it gently Steven. So that way we annoy you even more you feel every follicle [273.78] Stephen: Is it slowly and painfully removed? [277.74] Jack: Corona discharge there at the end and if we hold this around you there stop it [287.22] Jack: That spicy took me a while to to remember to use the ceramic tweezers [301.34] Koel: Yeah, Jack was saying that he was in pain a few times I guess from it [306.46] Koel: Which is pretty on on brand for Jack in his workshop [311.5] Jack: And I burnt myself as well. You know, like that's that's quite something to build. So [317.22] Jack: That's pretty cool. Yeah, what one of the one of the [321.66] Jack: Transistors, right? It's so red hot unbelievable, which is correct. All these things are correct [327.5] Jack: This and I forgot I spilled their voice. I said strongly. I'm surprised we can even talk [332.5] Jack: No, this job [334.5] Jack: wanted on to the round plane of my mat and then [340.66] Stephen: Well, I just wouldn't be you if you didn't do something like that, I mean, come on now [344.82] Koel: Yeah, yep. Let's be let's be serious here. Yeah [347.86] Stephen: I mean the only reason we can't talk about you like accidentally burning holes through you to crush your trousers during the process [353.76] Stephen: Is that we are in fact on YouTube. So [356.92] Stephen: It's good laugh [360.12] Stephen: Well done like kudos. I've never heard of anyone DIY in one [364.4] Stephen: In that it's what people who've got giant warehouses and can stand well away from it behind screens do it [370.88] Stephen: But Jack you're doing it in a bed set Tesla coils in a bed set. I think [376.0] Jack: Well done. I did. Yeah, I have I have melted a few windings here and there as well because I've done like a [383.64] Jack: Triple winding and went back on itself and that that melted [389.04] Jack: And then caught on fire [391.12] Stephen: Cole because news this this is a last-place removal. Okay. Yes [396.28] Koel: Actually, sorry, let me just correct you there Stephen. It's kiss ultra news [403.68] Koel: So, well, let me get my screen sharing up I just found out about it this morning I saw it well [413.12] Koel: So, let me just pull this up here, so [418.0] Jack: What [420.0] Jack: Why are you talking about it without a cat you need to get a cat and hold a cat [425.04] Stephen: Yeah, like blow felt style. Um, anyway, give us some deets [429.76] Koel: so basically we're now on to kiss ultra v3 from [435.96] Koel: Alexander Fedorov aka Fedor commander and there seems to be quite a [441.6] Koel: Different bit of changes here as far as layout and some other stuff [446.0] Koel: I think these are just pre-production ones at the moment [449.28] Koel: So and I think they the pre-production ones already sold out of this thing factor, huh? [453.04] Stephen: Like not making much use of the available space [457.32] Koel: Hmm [458.76] Stephen: Well, it's like a 30 by 30 except only using like 20 by 20 is worth of board space in the middle [465.52] Koel: I [467.52] Koel: Guess so. Yeah, I see the here's the thing. I don't look at [471.52] Koel: Hardware that that type of way. I'm like, oh it works. Yeah, and it's gonna work. Okay, cool [478.4] Koel: Yeah, I mean basically same form factor [484.16] Koel: Each 743 processor [486.92] Koel: I guess they've I think it's the same gyro as before but it's a new barometer because I think the old barometer was end-of-life [494.52] Koel: if I'm not mistaken [497.96] Jack: Don't you mean accelerometer gyro [500.92] Koel: And now she'll measure it. No, I think it's the I think it's the gyro is still the same but [507.48] Koel: It looks like there's more [509.84] Koel: Protection the stuff on this board. So [512.84] Koel: There's mistake more ESD protection on USB. Oh, oh big thing. Sorry [518.6] Koel: Let me well, I guess it says it down here, but we now are away from the micro USB [523.56] Koel: we are [525.28] Koel: upgraded to the USB type C right here, which is [529.04] Koel: Very very nice. And I'm sure a lot of people are pretty happy about that [534.16] Koel: because who like [535.76] Koel: Nothing uses micro real estate, but it's more of us. Yeah. Yeah, it's a it's a better connector type for sure [543.28] Koel: I [544.96] Koel: mean it's I [547.0] Koel: Don't know. I'm probably not even the right person to talk about it [550.32] Stephen: Appreciate that because you can put the DJI on on a back 12 volt back now [556.12] Stephen: So you don't have to worry about getting some back EMF through motors and knocking out your fancy DJI BTX [563.6] Koel: Well, yeah, I mean on my kiss ultra v2 build with DJI. Oh for I'm running it off of a external back [570.28] Koel: Yeah, but now this has 12 volt built in which is nice. So for any [575.4] Koel: Any sort of high volt BTX you can just basically use that there [581.28] Koel: One thing I did notice is that yeah, they the v2 versus v3 [587.96] Koel: 5 volt camera ground video in and camera controller on the top and now the 12 volt video out smart audio is on the bottom [595.08] Koel: so I [597.16] Stephen: Guess it's just in the software improvements. It says added bill heli pass-through. They can't have just done that, right? [603.84] Koel: No, no, no, that's just probably carrying over [607.08] Koel: Like they're just carrying over the whatever the specs that are we're already there [611.76] Koel: It's a writing. Yeah, and yeah, I was there's a 12 volt also for a super clean analog. So that's that's really nice. I I [620.84] Koel: well, it's weird like I haven't had really many issues on my like clean builds with analog but my [626.52] Koel: One quad that I beat up. It's it's a little bit [631.04] Koel: It's not the happiest right now, but I think it's either the motors or my wiring or whatever but still totally flyable [636.84] Koel: But I mean if there's 12 volt now and it's better for a clean analog then that's perfect. It's really nice [644.0] Stephen: more better [646.04] Koel: Exactly, but I think a lot of people are gonna be pretty stoked about just even just the USB C [651.84] Koel: Alone, that's like that's a huge thing plus all the different little protections that he's put on there [656.28] Stephen: So I hope it's wired the way that actually lets you put it in both ways because I have seen some super cheap FCS [663.12] Stephen: Where they put USB C on but there's only like a wide one side of the contacts [668.24] Stephen: So you have to put USB C plug in one way. Oh, no, I don't [676.68] Koel: Said two words [678.52] Koel: Yeah quality of life. That's that's the main stuff is just big quality of life improvements. So that's cool [685.12] Koel: And it's the same price as what it has been so it's not like a [689.24] Stephen: 2025 version of the same thing. It's not like a massive overhaul [693.04] Koel: Pretty much. Yeah, and I know there's I think he said it ships like it ships with [699.72] Koel: B64 so I don't the thing is I'm like, like I said, I'm not mr. Like technical [705.96] Koel: I don't know like how to talk about all these things in like a very [709.76] Koel: technical standpoint, but [711.76] Koel: It's good [713.44] Koel: And he said USB works both ways [718.28] Stephen: Because there's fingers on both sides of that and if you're lazy and you just were like ground [723.84] Stephen: Five volts and two of the data lines and not the ones that were on the other side [728.36] Stephen: Yeah, you've just created a USB C best be plugged in one way [733.08] Jack: Alexander does does it support fast charging? [743.8] Stephen: I swear I've got one flight controller that required me to put the plug the cable in one way around and I was just like [748.88] Stephen: How the hell have you done this? This is what you get from random Chinese brands, which is not what mr. [754.4] Stephen: Fedroff is peddling. I'm sure so. No, yeah [758.16] Koel: but yeah, it's cool to see some developments and some upgrades and some [763.08] Koel: Just stuff going on cuz like I mean, I'm a kiss ultra fanboy [767.16] Koel: But like it's just cool to see that there's one guy who's carrying the torch and he's he keeps implementing new stuff [773.08] Koel: That I mean, he doesn't have a whole crazy team behind him [777.12] Koel: That's like like he's literally a one-man band. So it's pretty impressive like controllers [781.76] Stephen: Yeah, like him and him dumped left and right just a cranking them out at home for the fun of it [789.08] Koel: hmm [791.32] Koel: Yeah, I mean I guess out of curiosity, I mean like [795.68] Koel: Is there anybody else that is is a one-man band like that? [799.44] Koel: That's doing like like in the in the year 2025. Is there anybody that is like [805.48] Stephen: Doing what he's doing but yeah like mr. Clean flight. He's still doing it. Yeah, and um, I think [814.44] Stephen: Jay Jay blackman however the guy that [818.52] Stephen: It's kind of coordinating most of beta flight. He makes his own FCs. He's got a couple of designs out. There's a few people [825.56] Jack: Everyone yeah, that's you know, you know why he's finally yielded and given this type C is so that he can sell the [834.8] Jack: Smaller rubber standoffs. She needs an extra room to fit type C [839.56] Jack: So it's like a market in thing not enough people or the smallest and offs. So now [846.56] Koel: You have to know [849.96] Jack: Smaller stand under he done, you know those like rubbery [855.68] Jack: Vibration of the grommets [859.28] Jack: Yeah, oh [860.88] Stephen: Yeah, he's got those weird screw-in ones, doesn't he? Yeah. Yeah [863.92] Stephen: Yeah, cuz most flight control of mounting stuff you just get just and then you have rubber grommets that can slide up and down and just [870.24] Stephen: Position it wherever but he sells the the fixed height ones. Doesn't yeah [877.16] Stephen: Having the long posts and then just you know sliding down to rubber grommets on the long posts [884.72] Koel: I've never I've never got it that way before but [892.56] Jack: Grommets do go after a while. Yeah, they do. But then you have a bag of like 50 of them [897.52] Koel: I guess the thing is too is if you have like super long screws [901.76] Koel: You you have to like get the precise height, right? [904.84] Koel: whereas like with these ones you kind of just have a short one and then [909.2] Stephen: You know, you just pick something that is either you go side to side through the whole frame [914.8] Stephen: Or you just stop shy of the top plate and put a nut on it [918.8] Koel: Yeah [920.08] Koel: That's true. Yeah, I guess it's like it's it's it's like, you know, it's just a different way with this [925.12] Stephen: It's like you're you're kind of legoing the [929.12] Stephen: The thing up in heights [931.2] Stephen: Notch by notch, but yeah [932.96] Stephen: I've just got trays of m3 and m2 bolts that are maybe [937.36] Stephen: From 8 mil through to about 18 mil and like one or two mil increments and I just picked the right one and [943.28] Stephen: Had a couple of rubber grommets on put a bolt at the bottom [946.0] Stephen: Put rubber grommets and bolts at the top and everything's sort of locked in there [950.4] Koel: remember when I got my [952.4] Koel: Oh, sorry. Go ahead. Jack [954.0] Jack: The number one thing that does my head in about gummies [958.56] Jack: Is that there's different types? [961.28] Jack: There's those ones [963.76] Jack: And then you've got [965.52] Jack: those ones [967.44] Jack: Little ones that are like and you've got the tall ones and the short ones as well [971.84] Stephen: So you're like you get round to do three corners and the fourth one you'll be like, oh, yeah, this one's a different height [977.92] Stephen: Yeah [979.2] Stephen: And that's how you end up with like 50 spare gummies when you just need one. Yeah, I just [984.96] Jack: Are you in a way? [986.48] Jack: I I hate gummies. Yeah, and I [989.6] Stephen: Find out what this is though and just buy it like a phallic express these bolts. That's what [994.4] Stephen: I do rather than go by four for like a couple of euros plus postage or just by [999.52] Stephen: You know 20 of them [1001.12] Stephen: From some random hardware store, which is oh, yeah, I mean these [1005.2] Jack: Oh the height of the fc is the same as the v2 [1008.48] Jack: nice [1010.24] Koel: Yeah, I don't think there's much size difference within usbc and micro [1013.36] Koel: Is there like obviously a bit of like maybe like a millimeter not even [1017.28] Stephen: USB c is a bit faster. It's mainly that the board [1020.16] Stephen: The board real estate real estate. Yeah [1023.04] Stephen: It's a wider longer socket than the micro usb [1026.72] Stephen: So yeah, you have to shuffle everything around on the board fit it in [1032.27] Jack: Yeah, right. We've done 10 minutes. Don't subject steven to any more. He suffered all right [1040.19] Koel: When are you upgrading to kiss ultra [1042.51] Stephen: Not me new [1043.63] Stephen: I mean, I don't know [1047.07] Stephen: Whenever they come out with something that all like fit in a two and a half inch drone i'd give it a punch [1052.43] Stephen: But i'm not building another five inch because I only fly them like once or twice a year [1056.59] Stephen: Not really worth it for me [1058.91] Jack: Enjoy [1060.91] Jack: Did you not enjoy the analog of uh of the [1066.51] Jack: The flying that you've done with us [1069.15] Stephen: Um, it was all right, but yeah, I was flying digital just like digital micros the whole time and um [1076.75] Stephen: Yeah, I just prefer micros, you know, and unless you're fighting strong wind, you know [1080.83] Stephen: You need that like big seven inch that can hold at a really high cruise speed if you've got strong winds [1086.75] Stephen: but if they're just like messing around and burning a couple of packs down somewhere close to where you live then [1093.39] Stephen: Little micros are great for that. You can just put them in you literally put them in a jacket pocket and walk out the house, you know [1099.95] Stephen: That's true [1102.64] Koel: Yeah, I guess it's i've never well, I have a tiny whoop that um [1108.32] Koel: That's I mean, that's the smallest other than a five inch. That's like the [1112.32] Stephen: Yeah, tiny tiny whoops do struggle [1114.24] Stephen: But if you just get up to like somewhere between two and a half and three and a half inch props [1118.48] Stephen: Like you can still do freestyle moves and you don't have to like go to a hundred percent throttle every time you uh decide to [1124.16] Stephen: Do a flip, you know, yeah [1126.32] Stephen: Like with tiny whoops, you're like i'm gonna flip it better get some height first [1131.04] Koel: Yeah [1132.32] Koel: Yeah, I well I learned that after a lot of crashes [1137.52] Koel: Yeah [1139.2] Koel: I don't know. I I for me like I [1142.32] Koel: The smaller quads, I mean it like the tiny whoops is like it's a toy, right? [1146.08] Koel: Whereas like I mean they're all toys technically [1148.64] Koel: But I I think of like a five inch and a seven inch is more of like a tool. I guess [1152.48] Stephen: It's just the power to weight ratio, right? [1154.4] Stephen: Like the flight controllers and video systems get a bit lighter, but they don't get like hugely lighter compared to the [1162.08] Stephen: The lift that you're getting [1164.16] Stephen: So you you have to spend more and more of the power that you're getting from the motors just to lift the electronics [1170.32] Koel: True. Yeah [1172.88] Koel: Well, i've heard i've heard that like these days like a two and a half or three and a half can can fly like uh [1179.2] Stephen: like a five inch supposedly, um, yeah gets it like three and a half inches and I think that's like [1186.08] Stephen: You can't do a four inch unless it's gonna be like a china cup and stay under 250 grams [1192.0] Stephen: But three and a half. Yeah, i've got two of them one with walks now [1195.84] Stephen: Which is quite robust of chris's chris rosser's aos frame [1200.08] Stephen: And then a dji. O3 stripped down which is less robust, but i get to break it [1205.84] Stephen: um, and they both like sub 250 with a [1209.74] Stephen: 650 mar4s or even a 750 mar4s. So I I really enjoyed [1216.48] Jack: chris rosser [1217.6] Jack: I thought he was the best guest we've had in a long while guys [1220.24] Koel: Yeah, he I felt really bad for being so late because like he yeah [1224.4] Koel: He was he was a really nice guy. He's really emotional with liquid nitrogen to [1229.44] Stephen: Hit the uh hit the ball record attempt. I thought that was mind-blowing like cooling was minus 80 and then they'd be [1236.8] Stephen: 100 degrees plus [1238.8] Stephen: After just doing like the start of a speed run never before never mind doing a couple of passes. That was just [1245.84] Jack: It was nice to see to have a guest on that you sort of like really sunk your teeth into [1251.84] Jack: You just it felt like you could talk to him for about three hours [1255.2] Stephen: Oh, yeah, he had so much to say. Thank you. Chris. Very very cool. Yeah [1260.48] Jack: It was like, you know [1262.4] Stephen: I'm looking more frame ideas as well because a lot of people are like, oh, there's this huge trend [1267.04] Stephen: Let's just jump on board. But chris. He's uh, he started a few of those trends, right? [1271.04] Stephen: He's been like there's a good reason for doing this i'm not doing because everyone else is doing it. Let's see how it goes [1276.8] Stephen: especially the dampening [1279.04] Stephen: Yeah, man [1280.64] Stephen: And he sees that in very good grace. I feel as well like he's all a funny side to it [1285.36] Koel: He wasn't yeah, he faced about it whatsoever. He didn't seem like he's like obviously he's a pretty freaking smart guy and [1292.8] Koel: And usually like really smart people can kind of be a bit like, you know grandiose sometimes [1298.72] Koel: But he didn't seem like that at all. He was like [1301.52] Koel: He seemed like a pretty chill dude. Yeah [1304.24] Stephen: I did feel like so many people screaming at him on youtube and his discord because that's just part of the territory [1311.12] Stephen: So, uh, well done on keeping your head up chris doing an awesome job [1315.2] Jack: Yeah [1316.72] Jack: I did I I did I did feel a bit like a potato being like this is a sponge on a stick [1324.4] Jack: You're gonna apply sexual lubrication, I mean frame dampening grease with it [1329.52] Stephen: Send your pack of sponges [1331.76] Koel: On a stick you're like chris rosser. Give me your address. I need your address [1338.32] Stephen: I've got a computing cluster and i'm modeling all these uh finite elements [1342.08] Stephen: So I have a statistical modeling packages going in an array of machines. It acts like i've got a sponge [1348.72] Stephen: on a stick [1351.12] Koel: So anyone who's listening that has no idea what we're talking about if you go to [1356.16] Koel: Last week's episode. That was last week, right? Yeah [1360.0] Koel: um [1361.12] Koel: We had chris rosser on and you can listen to [1364.48] Koel: All these inside jokey type things that we are referencing [1368.48] Jack: So no, this isn't going out on youtube because we've got no one to edit [1373.52] Jack: This is going on youtube, but it's this is on youtube. My friend. I mean a podcast [1378.08] Jack: Yes [1379.12] Stephen: And now everyone's going to hear these without [1382.08] Stephen: These deviations from the script [1384.8] Koel: Oh, no, but jack when I say listening, I mean like anybody right now that's currently watching and listening if they didn't [1391.04] Jack: What's jack got here? [1393.68] Jack: Finally made my yeah, I got some of the weird [1399.76] Jack: My slidey paper things yeah and glued them in wow [1406.96] Jack: It's a cages [1410.16] Koel: What is this project [1412.4] Stephen: I am holding up a wing. I've done a whole bunch of things, but you can't see them because they're largely electronics around the room [1419.92] Stephen: Sorry [1423.39] Jack: Yeah, that's what i've been slowly building up my [1426.75] Jack: foam triangle collection again [1432.64] Stephen: When are you next going to take the foam triangles out for a day of celebration the weather's absolute dog shit now [1439.12] Jack: I think summer's over. I think we've done that stops you jack [1442.72] Jack: I don't know [1444.88] Koel: Good point [1447.28] Koel: Yeah, i'm i'm [1448.96] Koel: I'm literally like like unless I get like really nice sunsets and i'm like, oh i'm gonna go get my [1456.56] Koel: O4 quad and look at the nice sunset for five minutes. I like unless I do that. Um [1463.44] Koel: I'm pretty much retiring from fpv for the foreseeable future other than video editing [1468.64] Stephen: Do you get bad winters there too? Does it just like snap and suddenly it's 20 glow or you know? [1474.0] Koel: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's literally like that it's like right now it's probably averaging around 20 degrees every day [1480.32] Koel: Well give it on and everything. Yeah, give it literally give it a couple weeks [1485.6] Koel: It's just going to be like [1488.16] Koel: Five ten ten five zero [1492.16] Stephen: I go to the battle of hawth where you have to go outside and cut open an animal and climb into [1497.6] Stephen: If you get stuck on the way to starbucks or something and you just like no i'm gonna have to [1502.32] Stephen: You know cut open a cow and crawl into its innards in order to survive [1507.04] Jack: Yeah, that's that's that's usually what canadians do in the winter. That's what that's part of the welsh breeding scheme [1517.2] Jack: Meeting ritual [1521.2] Koel: Oh, I like the suggestion from clive someone should knit me some battery warmers [1526.32] Koel: I do like that. Oh euphemism [1531.2] Koel: Speaking of of batteries [1534.24] Koel: I had an interesting scenario happen the other day. So [1539.12] Koel: I don't know if anyone saw I think it's like my second most recent video on my youtube channel, but [1544.4] Koel: I basically went out and I flew at this [1547.36] Koel: building that's being deconstructed and [1551.36] Koel: What ended up happening was I did like a a very silly mild crash [1555.52] Koel: And my gopro hero 11 mini died, but I somehow resurrected it [1560.4] Koel: Well when I went to go fly a sunset the other night [1564.32] Koel: I went to charge up one of the batteries that I had used and that battery dropped a cell [1570.96] Koel: Which was super random. I plugged it in into the balance on the charger and it was like [1575.68] Koel: That said like 11 point something and I was like, that seems a little bit of low voltage there and it's not yes, right [1583.12] Koel: Yeah, yeah, it literally turned into a 3s battery and i'm like fiddling around with the balance connector [1587.28] Koel: I'm like, oh, maybe it just doesn't have a good connection [1589.84] Koel: No, I I tried two chargers tried everything and then this is also a battery. That's [1595.74] Koel: Considerably old so I like and it would already have been wrapped up in tape [1599.76] Koel: So I took the tape off and like that battery was like, yeah, it was a little it was a little spicy pillow boy [1606.88] Koel: yeah, and um [1609.12] Koel: I was like, okay. What do I do? [1610.88] Koel: Do I just discharge it on the charger or do I put it on a quad and see how long I can fly at a hundred percent throttle? [1617.36] Koel: Because yeah, so I I I went that route and [1621.68] Koel: It was insane. Like I I can't believe how difficult it is to fly on a basically dead battery [1627.04] Koel: That's already dropped a cell like the my throttle position was so high that I was like scared and I was just like [1632.88] Koel: hovering it right in front of me, so [1635.68] Koel: I [1636.64] Stephen: The rest of the cells not exactly happy then no no [1640.56] Koel: So I basically flew it until a hundred percent throttle just landed me in the grass [1645.52] Koel: Um, and then picked it up and then oh it it recovered again [1649.12] Koel: So then I took off again and then same thing I said, okay [1652.56] Koel: Bring it home discharge everything to like three volts and then I went and recycled it at a at a battery place down the street [1659.2] Koel: so [1661.2] Stephen: Yeah [1662.8] Stephen: When you say recycles at a battery place down the street, you mean like people normally do freestyle bandos [1669.44] Koel: No, no, there's actually a place down the street here. It's um [1673.12] Koel: They're they're a battery seller or whatever and I know that they have [1677.76] Koel: A little like which is really strange. They have a [1680.54] Koel: cardboard [1681.76] Koel: battery recycling [1683.12] Koel: Uh little box in their place. So what happens if you don't have a cardboard battery? [1687.76] Koel: No [1688.72] Koel: ha ha ha [1690.88] Koel: Like that was good. That was good. Um, that was a good question. I wish I had more cardboard batteries [1698.64] Koel: But yeah, so I put it in there I said, oh [1701.12] Koel: uh [1702.24] Koel: I have a battery in a in a ziploc bag and I've taped it up like okay [1705.84] Koel: Here you go. Put it in i'm like I look inside there. It's just all like triple a's double a's and like whatever i'm like [1712.24] Koel: Just put this yeah [1714.24] Koel: I always lipo that i've cut off all the connectors and all the things we've got a we've got a battery disposal scheme [1721.12] Stephen: Which is you put the batteries out and they have to be like in a sealed bag and you put them on top of the recycling bin [1726.86] Stephen: Separately, huh and i've watched the guys come around and they just take them look at them [1731.84] Stephen: Go shrug and then just throw them into the the the rubbish compactor with everything else [1737.68] Stephen: Which is fine if you've got a couple of double a's [1739.92] Stephen: But if you're just like yeah, I really got rid of this kind of get rid of this like seven amp power six [1744.96] Stephen: S i'll just leave it out there in a bag [1747.44] Koel: And they wonder like why their truck is on fire [1750.96] Stephen: What is dull thump inside i'm a big smoke [1754.88] Koel: yeah, that's um [1757.52] Koel: it's it's funny because like [1759.12] Koel: There's been about two or three occasions since I started this hobby where i'm like [1762.8] Koel: what do I do with this battery now that it's either damaged or [1766.64] Koel: or [1767.6] Koel: dead or whatever and i'm like [1770.16] Koel: when I was like really brand new in the hobby I [1773.28] Koel: I was flying and I like I basically like power loop something and I was like over concrete and I [1778.24] Koel: It like ripped out the balance leads from the balance connector [1781.36] Koel: So they were like spark when you like touch them or whatever, right? Obviously, uh, so I was like, hmm [1786.24] Koel: Maybe i'll just leave this battery in the concrete on the ground in this corner by some brick and it and it'll live happily ever after [1792.56] Koel: And I was like, um, maybe that's not the most responsible thing to do and then I was like, hmm [1797.2] Koel: Maybe i'll put it back together and i'll put it at the like, you know in the parking lot of the fire station across the street [1803.6] Koel: Maybe they'll know what to do with it [1805.76] Koel: and it was just like because [1807.76] Koel: There's not a lot of like you can't really look up like oh [1811.68] Koel: lithium polymer [1813.6] Koel: Battery recycling like it's not really [1816.56] Stephen: They're not popular batteries, right as far as like mainstream or like because from looking at the state of the market you think that [1825.04] Stephen: Lithium is fairly valuable [1827.6] Koel: Yeah [1829.12] Jack: There's not much in in though. Is there lithium-wise? [1834.8] Koel: But like you look up any battery recycling place they never list lithium polymer it's all like [1840.64] Koel: you know [1842.16] Koel: I don't know. It's it's not on the it's usually not on the list [1845.44] Koel: So i'm just like well, it is a lithium battery and they've listed other types of lithium battery. So maybe i'll just [1852.4] Koel: Let them deal with it. But I just hope that nothing happens [1858.48] Stephen: Well, it's better than putting in with a bunch of uh, regular waste where it could catch something on fire, I suppose [1864.4] Koel: Yeah, I mean i've always wanted to like see [1867.44] Koel: the reaction that happens when you like [1869.68] Koel: Puncture lipo and watch it burn up. I've never done that and i've never seen it happen [1873.92] Koel: But at the same time I don't really want to see that happen because that's uh [1878.48] Stephen: That's irresponsible [1880.48] Koel: Yeah [1881.76] Koel: Exactly. Yep [1884.4] Koel: I just remember what's the world burn don't you? [1887.28] Koel: Well, what's the world burn? Not really. I mean like the funny part was when I left it outside of the um [1893.52] Koel: The fire station. I left it there for like a day or two and I was like, hmm [1896.96] Koel: This doesn't seem right. I'm gonna check and see if it's still there. I went back [1899.84] Koel: It was still sitting there and i'm like, okay [1901.28] Koel: I'm taking it back and I like I fixed it and that battery is actually still really good, which is really weird [1907.12] Stephen: Maybe they used their special fire magic on it [1910.48] Koel: Yeah [1912.88] Koel: Hopefully I hope so [1916.48] Stephen: Yeah, I think uh [1917.52] Stephen: There's been quite a lot of people setting batteries on fire and filming them [1921.36] Stephen: I'm surprised if there isn't a slo-mo one, but uh, it's mainly just the gas, isn't it? Like you start off seeing this big [1928.0] Stephen: Ejection of gas and then that becomes so hot that the gas ignites and boom [1936.56] Koel: Huh [1937.92] Koel: well apparently [1939.76] Koel: Joshua bardwell as of july [1944.64] Koel: Blew one up [1946.24] Koel: One of the dark lithium ones. Hmm [1948.96] Koel: I wonder if that is worth showing. It's a a three. Well, what is it? It's a humongous battery. It's like, uh [1954.8] Koel: Oh, is he gonna show it? Does he show it? Let's see [1958.16] Stephen: Let's find out [1960.96] Koel: When we're not even monetized so it's perfect. Oh wonderful. Okay. So, uh, what is this? [1967.2] Koel: Uh [1968.56] Koel: I guess we can listen to the audio [1975.75] Koel: 1300 for a battery. Oh [1981.95] Stephen: Oof [1982.99] Stephen: I've got to mention i'm fairly impressed with am32 at the moment because they've [1987.39] Stephen: They've gone from this project where i'm wondering. Oh, are they gonna make it or not? And now [1993.31] Stephen: I'll keep an eye out for all the pull requests that go in they've got a crazy number of supported escs now [2000.75] Stephen: like over 200 [2002.75] Koel: well [2004.11] UNKNOWN: yeah [2006.11] Koel: Good. I wish I could say that it is relevant to me, but [2009.87] Koel: Sadly, it's not you have kiss eses [2013.39] Koel: Um technically yes [2015.71] Koel: um [2016.91] Koel: in [2019.07] Koel: One of my well in my like old old quads, I have kiss 24 amp singles [2024.91] Koel: I've got some 32 amp singles. I've got a 25 amp kiss [2028.89] Koel: esc [2029.87] Koel: but I have [2031.47] Koel: also some voltara's which [2034.27] Koel: Are essentially I mean without it saying a kiss esc. It's basically it's a plug and play [2039.63] Koel: kiss ultra esc so [2041.63] Koel: it's um [2043.23] Koel: You know the next best thing [2045.39] Stephen: Better better than any of the other arrangement how not to come down on them? [2049.55] Koel: Ah, I don't think so. I they're pretty in cahoots. Uh, at least that's [2054.19] Koel: That's what I I mean, they're plug and play so they must be at least somewhat. Um [2059.15] Koel: Somewhat friendly [2062.59] Koel: cool, but [2064.59] Koel: I I don't know. I do have well then again. I do have a bl heli 32 [2068.19] Koel: esc in my seven inch [2070.67] Koel: and [2072.03] Koel: That's that was good. It still plays fine [2077.08] Stephen: I I was just uh, i've been looking around at uh, open ipc again and [2082.52] Stephen: One, I don't want to fly it. I kind of want something to test around the house [2088.04] Stephen: and I was wondering how to actually find a security camera that I could flash with it and [2095.16] Stephen: While I can find all these boards that are compatible [2098.92] Stephen: Can't actually find like a camera that I can buy that's guaranteed to be compatible, which is kind of weird [2105.24] Stephen: Things are supposed to be security camera firmware [2108.36] Stephen: That's weird. Yeah [2110.44] Stephen: I thought i'll learn how it works and just like because i'm not flying an awful lot [2114.84] Stephen: And it's kind of annoying when you go to fly and you don't understand how the thing works [2118.84] Stephen: And it's the first couple of times you spend all your time in the laptop. I was just like well [2123.08] Stephen: I kind of I could use a webcam. So let's get a webcam [2127.4] Stephen: but uh [2128.68] Stephen: Yeah, it doesn't seem to exist which is annoying [2133.0] Stephen: I've got all the ftdi adapters. I've got a soldering iron and yeah, i'm ready to go [2137.48] Stephen: I keep screwing stuff up and having to drag the ftdi out. So now it's like less of a hurdle than it used to be [2143.16] Jack: way [2145.8] Jack: Good old ftdi adapter. Oh, I have one of those thanks to jack [2150.84] Stephen: You'll get out of jail free card universal get out of jail free card [2155.72] Stephen: You see your hardware is bricked [2157.88] Koel: Not technically. Well, I have one of these [2161.08] Koel: That's one thing [2163.08] Koel: Yep [2166.28] Koel: And that's an ftdi [2168.68] Koel: Yep [2171.0] Koel: Ebr is acting very surprised very surprised about kisti ultra v3 [2176.12] Stephen: Yeah, it's it's more like a 2025 re-release of the v2 [2182.19] Koel: It's good [2183.63] Koel: No, I I'm pretty sure ebr is uh, very area where we got them already. Yeah. Yeah [2190.19] Koel: Yeah [2191.15] Jack: your sponsored pilot [2195.18] Jack: I know [2196.78] Jack: I I I must admit I will not miss [2201.02] Jack: Uh micro usb [2204.38] Jack: that much [2206.22] Stephen: I mean, it's fine. I love the mini usb. That was like [2210.06] Stephen: You know driver truck over at usb. Yeah. Yep. I love that [2214.86] Koel: I do like I do like mini usb. I I like it because it's very easy to repair or switch out too like on uh [2222.62] Koel: On that blue. I don't know if I told you guys about it, but I I'm one of those blue yeti microphones. I [2227.5] Koel: I fully did a swap on uh, i'm one of those and [2231.26] Koel: Brought one back to life and it's very easy to work with [2234.78] Koel: very very easy [2236.86] Stephen: technically, if you've got the motivation you can swap usb sockets and probably the [2241.74] Stephen: The minis are better candidate than the micro because it's a bit [2245.58] Koel: so many [2247.02] Koel: Yes, so many different. Um [2249.5] Koel: What do you call those? [2252.89] Koel: uh [2254.17] Koel: usb c has a ton of uh [2256.49] Stephen: pins pins the usb 3 version does because like you can get usb type c doesn't mean anything by itself [2263.21] Stephen: It's just a plug. Yeah, you can get it with just four connectors, which is [2268.89] Stephen: Technically usb 1.1 compatible, right? [2274.89] Stephen: But then you can also get it with usb 3 and that adds in [2278.81] Stephen: Another boatload of tiny tiny connectors [2281.61] Stephen: So it's really easy to work with if you get a type c [2284.57] Stephen: That is like usb 2 compatible because that's only four connectors to worry about [2288.89] Stephen: But then if you go up to usb 3 it adds [2292.09] Stephen: Might be another eight [2293.61] Stephen: It's a lot [2295.13] Stephen: Can't yeah, i'm sure got a diagram around this one [2298.49] Koel: I think yeah 3.1 has like at least 12 [2303.69] Stephen: And they start to get really fussy about like tolerances as well [2306.97] Stephen: So you can't just like jam it and expect it to work or it's going to be like me [2311.21] Stephen: I don't think she's gonna work at 40 gigabit 40 gigabit [2315.61] Stephen: Give you negotiation errors [2317.61] Stephen: Yeah [2319.69] Jack: Oh [2322.57] Koel: I've never um [2324.57] Koel: I've never I've never attempted a usb type c or three-point whatever [2329.13] Stephen: But I did they didn't seem too many station controller where um [2332.81] Stephen: I found a little ad in board that someone sold so you could like take out the micro usb input type c [2341.45] Koel: Yeah, I mean [2344.49] Koel: The [2345.37] Koel: I guess europe slash is I think uk may have been part of it where like you kind of like [2350.17] Koel: Whatever they they mean it so everything has to be usb type c [2353.77] Stephen: And thank god someone did [2356.01] Koel: Yeah, it's I mean [2358.01] Stephen: I've got a whole box upstairs. That's like legit evidence for why that is a good decision because it's full of all the stuff [2364.49] Stephen: That was around before usb adopted a standard connector type [2369.05] Stephen: So it would be like it's type a on the computer computer side [2372.17] Stephen: But the only thing that was on the other end was like the giant [2375.77] Stephen: Type b full-size plug that you find on scanners and printers. Oh, yes that on like [2382.73] Stephen: Uh a headset or a music player or a phone, but everyone just invented their own connector [2389.37] Stephen: So you had 15 different charges with some with ipad style clicking big flat connectors some with funny little [2397.21] Stephen: Oval connectors some with big square. It was just a nightmare [2401.29] Koel: I actually like usb type b because of like how like it it plugs in real nice. It's really robust [2407.45] Stephen: For our audio listeners jack is showing off his sockets [2410.97] Jack: Yeah, well, I think it's a type c breakout board [2414.65] Stephen: How many pins is that then is that done 12? [2417.93] Stephen: Yeah [2419.45] Jack: Yeah, next right. I was right. Oh, and there's more bloody hell. Yeah. Well, it's two-sided, isn't it? [2426.09] Stephen: 24 in total [2428.17] Jack: Yeah, the horror so usually hide the other set underneath [2433.69] Jack: the connector [2435.53] Jack: so put in a [2437.69] Jack: putting in a proper type c [2440.97] Jack: It's a lot of work. Oh, yeah, this board allows you to like buzz stuff out to see what's connected now. It's [2448.41] Jack: how it's uh [2450.01] Jack: Put it together [2452.09] Jack: Yeah, and then you can also have [2455.61] Jack: done things like [2458.33] Jack: Uh, I can can I find like I can only find my normal one of these [2464.41] Jack: but yeah, you can like [2466.97] Jack: figure out whether it does fast charging or [2470.41] Stephen: You know how many amps it can pull it's got a cool doodad somewhere around here [2474.17] Stephen: that's like a type c you can plug in on the head of [2478.97] Stephen: The charger and it shows you the voltage and the ampage that the device is in line. It's just got a little oh, let's nice [2485.37] Jack: Yeah, they're nice [2487.61] Stephen: Because there's a new standard where it's like, I think it's called pps [2491.85] Stephen: Um, the new usb charges they used to be like five volts and then they added [2496.57] Stephen: uh a nine volts and a 12 volt and [2499.85] Stephen: Then they removed the 12 volt because that was too useful and then they've added a 15 volt and a 20 volt [2507.53] Stephen: And then they went all the way to fully programmable with this pps stuff [2510.97] Stephen: So like the connection literally negotiates and says exactly what voltage it wants down to like [2516.09] Stephen: One of the volts or something and then it gives it an exact so you can get like an ic now that you plug into a [2522.09] Stephen: a modern usb [2523.53] Stephen: Uh power delivery charger and it can actually tell the charger exactly what voltage to provide [2529.45] Stephen: So you turn the charger into a mini power supply just put a little dial on the front end [2535.21] Stephen: Set the voltage [2537.93] Jack: That's pretty cool [2540.65] Koel: Yeah, but you know was well speaking about voltages and whatever um [2547.37] Koel: I guess last week. I don't think I talked about how [2550.41] Koel: It was just mostly in my video, but I how I quote unquote killed my hero 11 mini [2555.53] Koel: um [2556.97] Koel: So in my second latest video on my channel [2560.57] Koel: Like I was talking about where I crashed at the construction site and blah blah blah my hero 11 mini died and it revived well [2567.69] Koel: I I thought it was completely dead. Like I I did everything I did. I held all the buttons. I [2573.61] Koel: I held the button forever. I held both buttons. I plugged it in I put the update [2579.77] Koel: From the update whatever file on the on the on the sd card [2584.01] Koel: To to try to like force um firmware update on on the gopro literally nothing [2590.17] Koel: I tried different chargers different bricks different cables computer [2594.57] Stephen: Like power bank, you name it appeals to a wide variety of data [2599.93] Koel: Yeah, I I did all that and [2602.97] Koel: Nothing, literally nothing happened and it was like I did it [2605.77] Koel: I was trying for like a whole day different things different scenarios and I basically gave up. I said, okay [2609.69] Koel: Well, this gopro is dead [2611.85] Koel: Yay, thanks gopro. Well [2614.97] Koel: On a random whim like I was even like chucking it on the ground [2618.33] Stephen: The rarefied part of the world where you just go down to your local gopro store wave it and go it broke [2623.61] Stephen: And I definitely wasn't flying it and they give you a new one. No, sadly not. No [2628.73] Koel: um, if there was a place that I could do that in person, I would love that but um [2634.01] Koel: I mean, I do have the gopro subscription, but I I don't even know if they [2638.09] Koel: Thought that was the whole point of the the subscriptiony thing [2641.37] Koel: Well, there's no like storefronts for that. It's all like online kind of thing. But the [2646.65] Koel: Like I was trying everything I even was like [2649.45] Koel: Like like throwing it on the ground. I was even like punching it. I was like, come on come back to life [2654.09] Koel: You know, you smack it wake it up a little bit [2657.53] Koel: But nothing but then I was driving my girlfriend to work one morning just before I left like an hour before I left [2663.93] Koel: I plugged it in on [2666.57] Koel: Her block that can do like two amp or like two point something amp output [2671.69] Koel: um [2672.73] Koel: came home [2674.81] Koel: Messed around in my house. I don't know what I did. I was like cleaning and doing dishes and I looked over at the gopro [2679.69] Koel: And the light was on and I was like what [2682.25] Koel: and supposedly [2683.85] Koel: On some gopros on at least on the hero 11 mini if you have this issue where [2688.89] Koel: It's it's dead. It's not coming back to life. It's not turning on yada yada. If you give it around two amps [2696.07] Koel: Supposedly that like resets something. I don't know the technical term of it, but [2701.93] Koel: Like you give it two amps for like 30 minutes or more supposedly [2705.05] Koel: I don't know even with this even I don't even know if it's a thing if it's a witchcraft or something [2708.81] Koel: But it it brought it back to life and now [2711.93] Koel: congratulations [2713.37] Koel: Let's check [2715.95] Koel: Let's see [2717.39] Koel: does [2718.43] Koel: Does the gopro still work? Let's find out here first on let's drone out [2722.67] Koel: Is it gonna turn on? No. Oh, look at that. It's still alive [2726.67] Koel: Still it works [2728.75] Jack: so [2730.83] Jack: Yes [2732.19] Koel: Yeah, well I ended up buying more hero 11 minis as a backup [2737.07] Koel: I was yeah, I went into panic mode, but I got some good deals on them, which is nice [2742.91] Koel: But yeah [2745.23] Stephen: Is that the the best camera then in your opinion as camera dude? [2750.19] Koel: um [2751.15] Koel: I would say [2753.47] Koel: Yeah for for fpv [2756.27] Koel: I would say the here like unless you're like literally bashing the crap out of stuff. Maybe it's not the most durable [2762.19] Koel: I don't know. That's what everybody says online, but [2764.75] Stephen: I think is it so what size is this remind me? Are we talking like hero 5 session or are we talking bigger? [2771.15] Koel: Well here i'll get we'll do some comparisons here because people say mini [2774.59] Stephen: But the definition of mini changes from one year to the next depending on how big or small they think things should be [2781.55] Stephen: so [2783.23] Koel: Hero 11 mini bushes versus hero 5 session, right? [2788.35] Stephen: Yeah [2789.39] Stephen: Okay, so like not hero 9 the session but it's wider [2794.91] Koel: So like oh look there there you are stephen [2798.35] Koel: You're on my tv [2799.79] Koel: So you know it it only has that screen. So that's a big [2804.91] Koel: Wait, wait, wait, it only has that screen. So that's a big plus for smash ability [2809.87] Koel: Regular gopros have too many screens [2812.83] Stephen: Which is not good on your screen [2815.39] Koel: Yeah, like basically I I personally think it gives you the best image quality the smallest size [2822.27] Koel: um [2824.59] Koel: No, no smash ability of the screens [2827.55] Stephen: Can you maybe slightly compromise durability? [2830.51] Stephen: Sorry, is it internal battery? Can you remove the battery? No, it's all internal battery [2835.07] Stephen: Well, it's your gotcha then you have to like charge it so you can't have one for the entire day [2838.91] Stephen: You need like a swap so you can charge [2841.87] Koel: I I mean i've never really had any issues to be honest like I [2846.43] Koel: If i'm like I never really fly for it enough [2849.87] Stephen: Well, I don't fly like four or five hours. I've got to do [2852.91] Stephen: 35 40 packs [2854.99] Koel: Before lunch. No, no can't do it. If I have 35 40 packs worth of gopro footage [2859.95] Koel: I'm gonna probably find the closest revolver and uh, yeah, you know [2864.91] Stephen: You're like, sorry darling. I I realized I was married to you, but now i've got 40 packs worth of gopro footage and [2871.71] Stephen: I can't see you until christmas [2873.71] Koel: Yep, pretty much [2875.23] Koel: Um fun for the fun for volt. Does the gopro still force you to use the app? Um [2883.79] Koel: Yes, and no [2885.07] Koel: I mean there's like a [2886.83] Koel: Pre-built like easy or pro mode you can do you can select from the gopro [2891.95] Stephen: The remote control software because they used to be like you just need to find this [2895.95] Stephen: App on the android store that can't call itself gopro for copyright reasons [2901.47] Stephen: You've got to search for camera control remote v2 hyper extended or something [2907.47] Koel: Well, you know what for the hero 5 session [2910.35] Koel: It's very similar to the hero 5 session like you can change some settings. You can't change all settings from the gopro [2916.11] Koel: um [2917.55] Koel: but there's also if you have gopro labs, you could just do the qr code thing and then [2922.83] Koel: Um, then you technically don't need the app. Runcam should sue them for that [2927.31] Koel: Yeah [2930.19] Koel: Any views expressed are those of individual those pryrot pryrot [2937.23] Koel: Yeah, yeah, I mean [2939.07] Koel: Then again, and then runcam was [2941.07] Koel: Quote unquote getting sued. Well, I don't know gopro was getting flack for having [2945.95] Koel: Superview, so then they called it xv [2948.35] Stephen: I think I think runcam doesn't even have a full-time lawyer that they're like share him with a bunch of other [2953.95] Stephen: You know companies he probably only just does like thursdays before lunchtime. So [2964.27] Koel: Yeah, I don't know I I mean back to the the hero 11 mini thing I think it's the best size weight [2970.43] Koel: quality performance [2972.43] Koel: Bang for the buck, but it's now end of life. So no it's yeah [2978.11] Koel: Yeah [2979.47] Stephen: Well, you know you better uh keep on your toes because that thing's going to be end of life the instant another couple of generations come out [2986.83] Stephen: Oh, yeah, they'll be like this new one's got five screens [2992.43] Koel: Yeah, oh [2994.67] Koel: In in other news [2996.35] Koel: Is there anybody please please please tell me that there's somebody [3000.59] Koel: In this audience either from canada or the states that has the goggles n3 and wants [3006.43] Koel: A lens cover and a head strap. Please someone take this from me. I want to not want the lens covers out head straps [3013.95] Koel: Because I don't have these goggles anymore [3016.67] Koel: I bought the goggles n3 and I was sadly disappointed sell them with the goggles or you sent them back. I sent them back and [3024.59] Koel: Like I I can't find anybody to take these because nobody has these goggles and like a cursed [3030.43] Stephen: Well, you count yourself lucky [3031.87] Stephen: You got rid of the goggles and you didn't get landed with them then because it's uh, that's an indication that they are not preferred [3038.91] Koel: well, yeah, like I just [3042.03] Stephen: I don't want to throw in the garbage. It was so enthusiastic to start with about those and then you're just like [3046.83] Jack: They suck [3048.03] Jack: You can't leave your whole man vision now [3050.91] Jack: Any means diopters [3052.99] Koel: Okay, no the the main I would say the main thing for me was that they were like extremely uncomfortable hence why I got this head strap [3060.11] Koel: then [3061.15] Koel: When I put them on my eyes, it was like it wasn't in focus [3065.15] Koel: but then [3066.51] Stephen: That's why you got the thing where you just put it inside the goggles and suddenly you can't see anything just like perfectly black [3073.55] Koel: I mean the weird thing was was like [3076.43] Koel: Because I was a digital noob too. I didn't realize that once you arm you get [3082.27] Koel: Full bit rate. So i'm like maybe this blurry image. I thought I was seeing was just a low bit rate image [3089.15] Stephen: Um the bit if it's not moving then you don't get any blurring. So [3094.19] Koel: no, but it's still kind of like pixely not as not as clear but [3099.55] Koel: At least with the o4 system used to be a bit like that [3102.35] Stephen: I mean I I had some occasions where my wiring got busted up and the thing like never got the arm signal and [3108.99] Stephen: It would like I take off and fly a while and then be like this is atrocious and I couldn't see where I was going [3116.03] Stephen: You you you can fly a surprising distance before you realize that something's genuinely wrong [3121.63] Koel: Yeah, well with the o4 system like when I set the quad down [3127.23] Koel: It looks a certain way and I know that it's not like at its full quality yet. Once I arm [3132.59] Koel: You don't get like a flash on the screen [3134.27] Koel: But you kind of get like a bit of a flicker where all of a sudden like it kicks into full [3138.11] Koel: You know 60 megabit mode where it's like really clear [3141.07] Koel: And you can you can see the difference from when it's just sitting and then you arm and then it's like whoa [3144.83] Stephen: This is like pulls focus and all of a sudden you're like bing pin shot. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's like the weird thing too. Is that [3152.51] Koel: um when you're flying in like the low like the 30 frames per second mode like [3157.71] Koel: If when you arm you you have to wait a split second for that high resolution to kick in [3163.07] Koel: Then take off or else you're it's kind of jarring when you're like, whoa. What's like this is that's funky [3168.51] Koel: yeah, but [3170.19] Koel: um, I think there's not very many people that are flying the 30 frames per second mode, but [3174.51] Koel: um, I still need to try out the high frame rates and I will someday but [3179.07] Stephen: one day but not today [3181.95] Koel: literally because I have [3184.35] Koel: I've got so much editing to do [3186.83] Koel: uh, yeah [3189.72] Koel: I've got i'm actually i'm working on a video right now where [3192.28] Koel: I [3193.88] Koel: Got a company reached out to me for my first brand collaboration believe it or not [3199.56] Koel: Which is kind of cool. So that's going to be the mind probably my next video coming out [3204.2] Koel: and um [3206.28] Koel: Yeah, so that that's kind of exciting. But other than that I have like a million more videos to edit [3210.52] Stephen: So good luck. I hope you can manage to fit the the mattress infomercial seamlessly into the fbv footage [3216.76] Koel: Well, you know what like my whole thing is like i'm not even like trying to sell it [3221.24] Koel: I mean so basically they um this company which you know, you'll everybody will see it when it comes out [3227.56] Koel: But it looks like they're sort of collaborating with a lot of creators right now [3231.88] Koel: um [3233.32] Koel: And one of the perks is like, okay, you get to have the product and you know, whatever [3237.64] Koel: But you also get to like do the affiliate thing [3240.36] Koel: Where you can get like a kickback on any sales [3242.28] Koel: But I was just like, you know, I don't even care about the sales like if I can have the product for free [3247.48] Koel: I can still give my audience a 10 discount [3250.36] Koel: I don't need the 10 kickback like just give me just give me the product and and that's fine and dandy so [3255.96] Koel: Because I don't I don't want to have to deal with that as far as like income and taxes [3262.36] Koel: No, no, so it's like basically, you know, I get the product I get to show how how it is [3268.28] Koel: whether it's good bad, ugly, whatever [3270.36] Koel: um [3271.4] Koel: And and if people like it and they want to they can get a discount that's that's great. I don't need [3276.76] Koel: I'm not out here trying to shill products to make what a like two bucks [3280.2] Stephen: The game isn't what it used to be either [3282.2] Stephen: Like we we've we've heard from you know, andy rc [3285.32] Stephen: My curry kitten a lot of people have been doing this for the long haul since like banggood was the be all and end all and [3291.56] Stephen: That game pays a lot worse than it used to like 10 years ago [3295.8] Koel: and and my well in my mind, well the way that i've seen it and see people talking about it's like [3302.2] Koel: it [3303.24] Koel: Yeah, it's it's it's definitely a game [3305.72] Koel: and it's also like like [3309.72] Koel: I feel like you're you're you're spending a lot of time to do that whole game and and not just time but like mental energy [3315.72] Koel: I feel like like I think if I were to try to go like full full whack on youtube [3320.12] Koel: I'd probably lose my absolute mind [3322.68] Stephen: Because some people they have this like smile switch [3326.04] Stephen: There's a type of person who you're like now i'm going to point a camera at you and you're going to smile and say [3330.84] Stephen: Positive things and they do and it looks effortless and yes [3334.2] Stephen: There's a very certain type of person that just does that like they turn on a light switch and it's that's where they're at [3340.76] Koel: I think that's that does that I feel like that's a that's a really um [3345.08] Koel: I think that sort of personality trait is very common in the entire world [3350.12] Koel: Like people turn on that smile switch to go to work every day [3353.72] Koel: People turn that smile switch on to interact with humans that they don't even give a bleep about [3358.04] Koel: Um, I have a very hard time turning that smile switch on in in almost every scenario [3363.4] Koel: I don't know if you guys are like that [3364.52] Stephen: But I work I work in it mate like that [3367.64] Stephen: My entire industry is full of people who have not ever been able to find that that switch exists [3374.04] Stephen: Constantly pissed off at the world [3376.6] Koel: Yeah, yeah [3379.16] Koel: I don't know. It's one of those things. I mean power to the people that can do it [3383.0] Koel: I just I don't have the energy to to pretend. I don't like doing the pretend thing. So [3388.44] Koel: I don't know [3389.88] Stephen: Richard warrick from the chat is hoping that his gear best affiliate links are doing well [3395.96] Stephen: You know, maybe you'd be able to buy yourself a snickers soon [3400.36] Stephen: I hope it's doing better than that [3401.56] Stephen: I mean, I think it used to pay really really really well like comically. Well, like second income plus well [3408.52] Stephen: Yeah, but but now it's kind of like it'll buy you [3412.36] Stephen: A food item like a fast food item every now and then that's kind of yeah [3417.16] Koel: Unless you have like the like a huge amount of subscribers huge amount of views huge amount like [3421.8] Stephen: You just kind of it's gone from being a lot of creators always small [3426.6] Stephen: To middling audiences to like superstar creators and then just peasants, right? [3433.08] Stephen: We're we're not even peasant here down here, but there's like there's people who have [3438.52] Stephen: Well in excess of a million viewers and a million followers well in excess of that and it's just like [3444.6] Stephen: All the money is thrown at those people [3446.68] Stephen: And none of it goes down to the tier of people who used to be like i've got a hobby. Let me talk with them [3452.44] Koel: Yeah, that's gone. Well, you know, what do they say? [3456.36] Koel: That's just the way she goes, isn't it? [3459.48] Stephen: That's the way she goes crumbles. Yeah [3464.48] Koel: Oh [3465.76] Koel: fun privilege [3467.52] Stephen: What is fbv lunchbox? [3469.76] Koel: um, I think it was kind of like a subscription thing where [3472.72] Koel: You pay and correct me if i'm wrong here fun privilege [3475.2] Koel: But I think I remember people talking about it a few years ago where it was like [3478.24] Koel: It's like a subscription where every month you get sent out like a miscellaneous package of [3483.2] Stephen: Of random fpv products to be north american things didn't they because they didn't really do international shipping. It was mostly a u.s. Thing. Yeah [3491.6] Stephen: Oh [3493.44] Stephen: No fpv scam, okay [3496.16] Stephen: Well, here's some old props that no one wants and some grommets that we found in the bottom of the cupboard [3502.24] Koel: Yeah [3504.32] Koel: Yeah, I don't know i'm [3507.6] Koel: I'm trying to [3509.68] Koel: Limit the things that I have so i'm definitely not signing up for any lunch boxes [3514.48] Stephen: Oh, you're going for modern asceticism or not quite that level [3518.72] Stephen: Like go for a crisp empty white apartment with white walls [3522.96] Koel: not quite but like I don't want to have just like [3526.64] Koel: Endless amounts of junk that sits there for you know, the end until the end of time that won't even get touched [3532.96] Koel: What are you saying? What are you saying? You're not judging i'm judging you and jack [3539.76] Koel: Yeah, guilty as charged man guilty [3543.04] Koel: It's pretty easy to start hoarding in this in this uh in this hobby, but [3547.2] Koel: Yeah [3548.4] Stephen: I'm doing a lot of tidying up right now [3550.4] Stephen: So so messing around a lot with the led panels and stuff [3554.08] Stephen: I've got to use the fun little touch screens as well. I wonder if this cable's long. No, the scale is not long [3559.2] Stephen: Um, i've got these little light switch sized lcd touch screens that run android and they can run some like [3567.68] Stephen: Home home control gizmos. So that's uh next on my list to mess around with nice. Yeah, that's cool [3575.76] Stephen: I found like an esp that um [3579.52] Stephen: This has a little esp with a capacitive screen [3583.2] Stephen: And if I plug it in with my little usb power [3587.2] Koel: Oh nice [3588.72] Stephen: It works as a little touch screen remote [3591.04] Stephen: It's got a little home assistant logo and it's taking a while to load because it's a tiny tiny tiny little thing [3596.96] Stephen: It's not going to come into focus. So I just move that's okay. But yeah, it's pretty cool kind of neat [3602.56] Stephen: And uh, the idea being it's going to be a little touchscreen dude to have on the desk. You see it's just tiny [3607.68] Stephen: It was like, uh, I think it's about [3609.68] Stephen: 17 or 18 quid from aliexpress. It's it's got like a fancy version of the esp that you'd have in your um [3617.68] Stephen: Express os basically with a touch screen [3621.44] Stephen: So you do lvgl [3623.84] Stephen: For the ui, which is how they do the user interface on htx [3628.48] Stephen: So okay same way of drawing uis, but for home automation. So turning on the lights and stuff [3634.48] Stephen: very cool. Yeah [3638.25] Stephen: I still got the nano pie here as well. I was instructed to get this because it was definitely going to work with open hd [3645.21] Stephen: This is definitely the right board to get for a quad [3648.33] Stephen: until [3649.53] Stephen: The project kind of went lights out [3652.41] Stephen: And about like 2022 and disappeared for a while [3656.89] Stephen: And now i've just got this and it was never able to be installed. So i'm trying to find something to use that for as well [3664.01] Koel: I'm gonna pull a jack quickly here [3666.47] Koel: Unfortunately, that's all the time we have left for today [3671.21] Koel: Uh, jack, can you finish it? I forget what else you say. I just remember you honestly, unfortunately [3677.05] Stephen: It's always unfortunate [3679.21] Jack: Yeah, uh, I don't know whether we'll be back next week. Are we going just once a month? [3684.81] Stephen: It might just be staring down the barrel of the camera going [3690.25] Koel: Yeah, I don't know [3692.89] Koel: Is it continuing is it uh, is is left thrown out going to continue? It may no longer be a weekly event [3698.41] Stephen: Um, but we don't want to then have to decide on a frequency and stick to that. So it may be somewhat more fluid [3706.01] Koel: Yeah, yeah will it continue we don't know find out on potentially next week or next month or next [3714.41] Jack: Thursday at 8 p.m [3716.57] Jack: Yeah [3717.53] Jack: Yeah, or or or go to the let's train out discord [3722.57] Koel: Yeah, we should we should do a poll we need like so viewers [3726.33] Koel: Do you want us to continue? Do you care about let's join out? [3730.57] Koel: Find out in [3733.05] Jack: I don't know what i'm talking about. But yeah, yeah the ldo discord. I don't know [3739.29] Jack: because if cold doesn't show up and [3742.57] Jack: I it's just me and stephen stephen screwed if I have to go to the toilet [3748.25] Stephen: Well, I can't talk without your charismatic backup I can hold it together I can hold down the fort [3754.49] Stephen: Can you do an hour on your own? [3756.49] Stephen: Yeah [3757.61] Koel: Get me talking about random shit. There's a hint of what it could be like in the future episodes [3765.69] Koel: Yeah [3766.65] Stephen: Yeah [3767.37] Stephen: But if you want to suggest topics then by all means ask us about topics and i'm happy to go do research and [3774.09] Stephen: Present a bit on various things [3776.97] Stephen: So let us know [3778.97] Stephen: Drone related or just in general ftv history [3782.81] Stephen: Ah, yeah, happy to uh to follow suit and come up with something [3791.05] Stephen: All right, all right and that as jack says was [3794.57] Stephen: All we have time for this has been let's drone out episode 523 [3799.85] Stephen: You have been joined by [3801.85] Stephen: Jack aka bright until I fly [3807.37] Stephen: His natural call cold aka camera dude [3812.81] Jack: Peace man. Peace out, bro [3816.81] Stephen: His natural call and myself stephen aka stephen [3823.29] Stephen: See you next time maybe [3825.27] Jack: Congratulations zero. Well done boy [3829.37] UNKNOWN: Best mod see ya. See ya
