=== Let's Drone Out — Episode 524 === Title: Let's Drone Out - Episode 524 Recorded: 2025-09-11 Hosts: Koel "Koala" Anderson, Jack "Brightontillifly" Nash Guest(s): (none recorded) Total audience: 168 Platforms: YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogyv6g4mktM) ===================================== [19.28] Jack: Hello and welcome you're listening to let's try now [25.48] Jack: It's just me and [28.4] Jack: Tail spin by the sounds of air. I don't know how many people are going to get this [36.04] Jack: Because [39.88] Jack: YouTube has now got a lovely restricted mode and [44.76] Jack: And [46.76] Jack: This is a restricted mode over the weekend [50.96] Jack: If you were logged in apparently [54.36] Jack: Restricted mode is set off by default [58.32] Jack: but if you didn't have an account or you weren't logged in then [64.32] Jack: Hey Clive, how you doing and you didn't get any [69.52] Jack: Hey, you didn't get any [72.52] Jack: You couldn't get the feed it was not available. Um, I [80.6] Jack: Think this is [83.96] Jack: The end of LDO [87.4] Jack: Stevens ill and he's away. Well, he's supposed to go on a night out [93.04] Jack: for dinner or something and [95.76] Jack: he's he's got a stinking cold and [99.4] Jack: I don't know where Cole is [103.64] Jack: Spoke to him last night and he ah, there's Cole. How you doing? [113.18] Jack: Hello [118.02] Jack: How you doing [119.82] Jack: That's cool. So it means that I tried to convince Cole last night to come on and just hang out and just [128.26] Jack: Me and him can chat [131.14] Koel: Yeah, yeah [133.38] Koel: Yeah, I [136.58] Jack: I'm not gonna turn up next week. I don't know. It's up to Steven if Steven wants to carry on [144.74] Jack: He can and if he wants to look for other hosts he can but he's a nightmare with [151.78] Jack: If you just have two other people whenever I run to go to the toilet, there's no one there [158.22] Jack: So then Cole's left talking to himself [161.66] Koel: Which is [166.82] Jack: Yeah, yeah [169.74] Jack: I'm not gonna show up next week or [172.94] Jack: Whatever. I mean, maybe I can talk to the guys later on like, you know [178.5] Jack: If any of them do miss it and maybe we could do the LDO like, you know [184.02] Jack: like once a month the first Thursday of every month or something, but I [189.5] Jack: I really need to go to the maker space and like hang out with real people and [195.5] Jack: Just you know kind of move on [199.5] Koel: It's I think there's only one way to do it manages to do it [202.86] Koel: does it anything if you just if you're dragging it out, you don't want to do it and no one's showing up then [208.06] Koel: Yeah, and why we're doing it, you know, yeah [212.54] Jack: it's [214.5] Jack: Yeah, it was you know courtesy really, you know, I do want to finish off the bonus [223.1] Jack: Pod series that we had where we were talking about [227.1] Jack: Stuff when we first got into the Harvey. Yeah [230.82] Jack: I can release [233.1] Jack: What can release them? [235.46] Jack: Now LDOs pretty much over if Steven wants to carry on [240.02] Jack: Then he can but I remember when I first like started [246.74] Jack: Podcasting back in like 2013. I was like [252.06] Jack: Super super like depressed and that [256.14] Jack: and [260.34] Jack: Yeah, it's it's whether you can convince the original hosts to like come back and [269.62] Koel: Buddy I've been I've been trying to get people on that some of the original hosts for quite some time. Yeah, I [276.46] Jack: Tried I kind of felt like there was a sort of like big [281.3] Jack: push to like get to the the ten years and [285.98] Jack: to be honest [287.42] Jack: Frank's been carrying [289.22] Jack: Ldo for so long like he's been doing a ton of work in the background loads of homework [296.18] Jack: Organizing stuff and I think he's just burnt out. We spoke to everyone that [303.5] Jack: You know, like who we were on the sort of like same wavelength and that and then there's other people [312.06] Jack: The trouble is our background is it's completely backwards goal [315.38] Koel: Oh weird because it showed it that it was backwards before and so I flipped it and then no weird. Okay. Yeah [325.22] Jack: Yeah, so [327.5] Jack: Like Frank's been doing a lot of heavy lifting. I think without Frank and [333.06] Jack: The fact that curry wasn't enjoying it in isn't here as well. I [338.74] Jack: Just you know, and I've been doing [342.18] Jack: Ldo for ten years and I need a break [347.02] Koel: Well, I mean [349.54] Koel: What do they say all good things must come to an end, right? Yeah, I mean [356.02] Koel: Richard work in the chat. He said once a month is better than nothing [360.18] Jack: Yeah, I [362.02] Koel: Mean, I guess it's it's one of those things where you have to kind of do the yet to do that debate, right? [366.42] Koel: where it's like [367.62] Koel: Do you want to do it? Do you not want to do it? Are people gonna show up? [371.18] Koel: Are we gonna be the only ones who are showing up if that's the case then? [376.86] Koel: Is this a drone show or is this two guys talking on the internet about how no one's coming to our drone show? [381.98] Koel: I [386.38] Koel: Mean I can talk about some drone stuff actually because I have some drone related news [392.54] Koel: Yeah, well you go well for the eight viewers who are watching [398.98] Koel: Anybody likes to stabilize their videos and they don't want to use gyro flow [405.66] Koel: GoPro has now made hyper smooth [408.5] Koel: Pro which is basically just real steady 100% free [412.74] Koel: so if you go into [415.5] Koel: your [416.94] Koel: If you go to the GoPro player app or you download it [419.74] Koel: you now get hyper smooth for free so you can get free image stabilization the GoPro one the real steady one and [426.18] Koel: You don't have to do gyro flow [428.38] Koel: So that's so that's one thing of news [432.18] Koel: Which honestly, I don't know if really anyone knows about it. I [436.66] Koel: Don't think anyone's talked about it. It's I made a video about it yesterday because I figured why the heck not [444.7] Koel: But it's really weird how I found out about it was I found out about it on a reddit believe it or not [451.46] Koel: Let me find it here [454.06] Koel: basically [455.42] Koel: Yeah, hyper smooth is now free. Let me share my screen here. How do I do that present share screen? [462.18] Koel: So check this out on reddit [465.18] Koel: Go Pro two days ago officially GoPro official employee made a post saying hyper smooth Pro is now free [473.34] Koel: Which is really strange because there's nothing about it on their website that I could find yet [477.34] Koel: But somehow reddit gets it first. Are you guys able to see this? Oh, no, you haven't seen it yet. So it [484.06] Koel: GoPro r slash GoPro [487.34] Koel: GoPro official hyper smooth pros now free what it says is that [493.1] Koel: So, yeah, like I said before download GoPro players are using it for free [499.58] Koel: Hyper smooth pro works with videos capture on a hero 8 black and later cameras [505.18] Koel: so [506.42] Koel: There's your question answered and you're see but [510.34] Koel: That's a really weird thing though, because if you look like this was posted right here [515.82] Koel: hyper smooth pro [517.5] Koel: Stabilization compatibility so it's compatible from 8 and up [522.22] Koel: for all video modes [524.22] Koel: but [525.46] Koel: hero 5 5 session hero 2018 6 and 7 [529.9] Koel: It is supported but image stabilization has to be off [534.74] Koel: During recording so anything below a hero 8 you can still use hyper smooth pro [540.38] Koel: But it but make sure that you're not recording with image stabilization. So that's kind of cool [547.42] Koel: So Jack you'll have to test it out with your hero 5 session [550.78] Jack: Yeah [552.02] Koel: Yeah, well [553.7] Koel: You want to test it right now? We got some you got some footage to show we can there's some drone related stuff. I [559.78] Jack: Don't know [561.26] Jack: Can do it towards the end? I've got a bit of news [565.38] Jack: I've got [568.18] Jack: I can I can share [572.54] Jack: Express LRS [574.22] Jack: the [576.3] Jack: One one two one now the receivers now support listen before talk [584.22] Jack: So we are compliant. Oh [587.22] Koel: Is this like a regulatory thing? [589.7] Koel: for ring [592.78] Koel: Thanks, I know I'm being a jerk but it's cuz it's [597.86] Koel: It's like yay. We can we can follow the route. What is this? Listen before talking? [603.3] Jack: um [606.42] Jack: Well, it's like [608.58] Koel: like like read or what is it like that it's from it's basically for like remote ID stuff or [618.59] Jack: no, it's what it is is the [623.55] Jack: Transmitter will listen for the receiver [630.8] Jack: First and then once it's connects the receiver then it will start going to full power [637.04] Jack: You don't clog up the airwaves [640.28] Koel: That's smart [641.84] Koel: Clive said in his drone news. He's qualified for the BDR [645.88] Koel: British drone racing championship that's on the next weekend in Bristol nice [650.84] Koel: Congrats [653.51] Koel: Andy RC is saying it limits you to 100 milliwatt but listens before it transmits. It's what it's listening for other [660.23] Jack: Other receiver. Yeah, and when it gets that handshake then it'll [666.63] Koel: It will power up. No, that's actually pretty cool [671.51] Koel: Matt Cron is that a new name? Have we seen this name before? [676.27] Koel: You guys should talk about drones new products what's new what's bad and good how ftv is changing new protocols for links versus old ones [682.91] Koel: Digital versus analog give suggestions to users. Oh [686.27] Koel: buddy [687.75] Koel: Yeah, we definitely talked about this stuff [690.51] Koel: But it's not a bad suggestion [693.51] Koel: It's all definitely like good and relevant topics that people would be interested in [699.63] Jack: The other the trouble is right [703.63] Jack: That was down to like the sort of like review guys [707.35] Jack: Andy RC and curry kitten would get sent latest stuff and those guys would talk about it. Meanwhile [716.07] Jack: Coles frying for us [718.55] Jack: flying oldest fuck yeah, yeah [721.99] Jack: And loving it [723.99] Jack: Yeah, my budget right is that I can't get the right cable [730.31] Jack: like pigtail, so I end up [733.75] Jack: Ordering these and then cutting the end off of resoldering my own [739.39] Jack: No, hey s [742.07] Jack: Terminal because I can't I can't make the bend [746.79] Jack: Yeah, good enough because that's what that's what Jack's been up to [751.91] Jack: Jack's latest news. So like me and Cole recommending products whilst [759.23] Jack: Fly analog because it still works. There you go. And don't ask us what? [765.91] Jack: PTX is to buy because [771.15] Jack: Yeah [774.35] Jack: If any of you guys miss me, right I [778.11] Jack: You can find me and the only place after this I won't be on LDO not coming on [784.51] Jack: I don't believe you I [786.83] Koel: You say this now you said you were done with LDO yesterday [793.03] Jack: If you're here and I'm here then we can talk [799.27] Jack: But I'll be on I'm on tonight [802.35] Jack: 11 to 12 on Thursday night show [806.15] Jack: On the LAC 80s, and I'm gonna be talking about how I lost my ham [813.07] Koel: And and for those who don't know what is the Thursday night show? [817.47] Koel: What is the LAC and what the heck are you gonna be doing on it? [821.11] Jack: Okay, so the Thursday you realize it you have to you have to tell people what this is, right? Yeah to know. Yeah, well [828.31] Jack: originally [831.43] Jack: LDO was first on [834.19] Jack: The Thursday night show so you still have to go to a website the Thursday night show calm and [842.39] Jack: You would go there and you tune in and [845.51] Jack: LDO would be playing eight till nine and we we would talk and play music and [852.75] Jack: What is the Thursday night show though? It's an online radio [857.07] Jack: cool [858.07] Jack: cool and [859.87] Jack: You can hear that [862.23] Jack: Originally if you go back to our first episodes on here [867.35] Jack: You'll notice it starts at a higher number if you go to bright until I fly you'll see [875.51] Jack: episodes of LDO that go back even longer to a point and then we [882.79] Jack: sowed 12 to 13 [885.39] Jack: They're available to listen back on mixed cloud because they originally aired on the Thursday night show calm [892.95] Jack: Wow, and before I ever did let drone out [897.35] Jack: I was on a podcast called the lonely artist cast [900.87] Jack: So if you miss me is I'm not gonna be on LDO [904.59] Jack: You can catch me there and every so often I won't be playing next week, but I'll be playing the week after I [911.87] Koel: Mean dude, you did pretty damn good. What did you not miss? [916.39] Koel: 524 episodes in a row of LDO [919.31] Jack: No, because I ended up in hospital [922.55] Koel: But like you pretty much done five hundred and twenty four weeks of this [928.07] Jack: No, I missed I've been to hospital twice and I missed the load. I was doing [935.03] Koel: Well, it's still more than 500 Shirley. Yeah [938.17] Jack: Oh, yeah, I was doing a course and [943.25] Jack: When J and Clint were taking over I was in therapy [948.65] Jack: We're not [950.69] Jack: You know, yeah by the farm [954.77] Koel: so [957.13] Koel: It's 500 weeks of this man, you did pretty damn well Jack you have to give it to yourself like you [962.77] Koel: You [965.77] Jack: The reason why I started [968.29] Jack: Podcasting is because if you notice I sometimes in big important things [974.89] Jack: Like, you know, like the 10-year episode mini air show [979.81] Jack: anywhere where I'm like a public thing and I'm there for LDO if you wonder why I [986.97] Jack: Don't wear an LDO t-shirt [989.57] Jack: It's because I show up in a tell him Steve Dave's t-shirt and tell him Steve Dave is a podcast [997.61] Jack: where that started up with Kevin Smith's friends who [1006.85] Jack: Who like Brian and basically Brian was suicidal and he was [1015.05] Jack: partnered with [1018.05] Jack: Walt another host on there and cut long story short Brian's job was to show up and [1026.45] Jack: talk [1028.01] Jack: to [1030.01] Jack: Talk to Bri and they would just have a weekly check-in and that's and that's the whole reason I started [1037.45] Jack: LDO because I I wasn't doing too. Well at one point and I started [1045.81] Jack: with the LAC [1047.81] Jack: We started a podcast and it done really well. And then I kind of eventually got into [1054.77] Jack: Into drones and I met Don Robinson and then I appeared on his radio show and he was like [1060.97] Jack: I really want a drone podcast to listen to [1063.77] Jack: They gave us gave me a slot and then I just [1068.53] Jack: Grabbed to the people that we were flying with at Hidden Valley [1072.89] Jack: I just kind of right when right this me up this sit and chat and then Frank started emailing in and [1082.29] Jack: Then poor Frank ended up [1085.81] Jack: Complete puppet master. So the only the only reason LDO works is because Frank was there working us like fucking [1094.49] Jack: puppets [1095.49] Koel: Well, I bet you Frank would disagree. I would say I bet you Frank wouldn't wouldn't take all that glory [1101.69] Koel: Yeah, like it takes more than one person to run a ship. I mean I [1107.97] Koel: Do the thumbnails and set the stream up generally? [1112.01] Koel: Frank does a lot of organizing [1114.69] Koel: You do a lot of showing up and talking and you've done tons of organizing and getting guests on over the years [1119.93] Koel: I mean, it's not [1121.53] Koel: You can't get I mean, I I love Frank and and and Frank's awesome [1126.25] Koel: But I don't think he would accept that he's the only reason why the show was running [1132.16] Jack: Yeah, but [1134.16] Jack: He was a total rock [1137.12] Jack: And was yeah, you know, he he got us all [1142.48] Jack: He really did pull this all out the bag [1146.0] Koel: Well, I don't know. That's what it what an audio get say. I [1155.85] Koel: Don't know what to say. Literally took the words right out of my mouth audio get [1160.65] Koel: and [1162.09] Koel: Audio get also says that I mean, I'm totally changing the topic here has been a chat here [1166.69] Koel: But he's a 4s pilot to still old gear clives for us till next season [1172.85] Koel: well [1173.93] Koel: so then speaking of 4s, this is a 4s battery and [1179.97] Koel: On it I wrote [1182.13] Koel: Cell for question mark because I there was something weird going on with it [1186.61] Koel: Whatever. I went and tested my drone today to make sure that my GoPro still working because it kept like shutting off [1192.53] Koel: Press and record it would record for like a minute or two and then it would stop [1197.61] Koel: Well, this now is old and tired low capacity [1202.33] Koel: So this is like probably one of my very first batteries and I think it just needs to go away [1208.25] Koel: But I figured out the problem Jack. I figured out why my GoPro was stopping recording [1213.17] Koel: What was that? [1216.33] Koel: Knowledge you got it in one you got it in one [1224.52] Koel: Which is really strange. So remember when I had the crash and then like the GoPro stopped working and it wouldn't turn on or whatever [1231.8] Jack: Yeah [1232.8] Koel: well, this is the same SD card that I had all the whole time in the UK and [1238.32] Koel: it's still reads it's still right and it's totally fine, but [1242.0] Koel: Maybe over the course of however long of a few hits here a few hits there. It's kind of damaged [1248.72] Koel: And I did like a read and write speed test on it and it's definitely not clocking at what it's supposed to [1254.4] Koel: So there's something going on with it [1257.96] Koel: And I just I had the brainwave and I was like wait [1260.36] Koel: Let me put in a different SD card that I know was like relatively new same same one and I went out and tested two [1267.02] Koel: packs low and behold [1269.44] Koel: No, stop recordings anymore. Yeah [1272.96] Jack: so [1277.76] Jack: Only I'll see taught me this if it's a sand disk SD card [1283.12] Jack: Yeah, they have a warranty thing, right? Yeah, they have a 10-year warranty. So collect them all up and [1289.72] Jack: you can send them back and [1292.56] Jack: Yeah, get them [1295.64] Koel: so this one is not sand disk though, so this this is Kingston and [1300.6] Koel: When my GoPro was being funky, I was like doing all types of stuff to it to try to bring it back to life, right? [1308.36] Koel: I was like, you know [1311.0] Koel: Cleaning up the SD card slot with some ISO. I was doing this I was doing that [1315.68] Koel: I was just doing all these weird random things thinking like maybe it's this maybe it's that [1320.36] Koel: well [1321.96] Koel: The ISO got like in the GoPro and I could like hear it [1325.48] Koel: I was like shaking it around I could hear liquid in there [1327.44] Koel: So I had to basically like get all of it out and wait for it to dry [1330.68] Koel: Well inadvertently not all of it got dry and it rubbed off the print on the front of this SD card [1336.58] Koel: So now I have a black mystery bad go bad [1340.04] Jack: SD card. No why what? Yeah, you wouldn't think [1344.64] Jack: It would yeah, I'd be a powerful enough [1348.36] Koel: Solvent to do it. It's weird because I'll show you the what what actually what they look like normally [1356.72] Koel: This is what it would normally look like and [1361.74] Koel: it's it's all a print like even the black part where the white text is over it that's printed on it and [1367.94] Koel: Yeah, basically like it was weird man [1370.78] Koel: It started like peeling in like a really strange way and it was like bubbling up and peeling off [1375.78] Koel: So I was like, well, that's kind of frickin strange. So I ended up just like scratching the rest of it off. Yeah [1383.42] Koel: This I just scratched the rest of it off [1385.3] Koel: And I was like because I didn't want all the little like flakes of the crap coming off to like go inside the GoPro [1390.74] Koel: so I just [1392.1] Koel: Made it black. Hmm. This is this is all my UK stuff [1397.06] Koel: And it's already backed up but and it does still work but [1402.18] Jack: You're you're super echoey [1405.34] Koel: Now there's my AirPods. Oh [1408.14] Koel: Is that why I wonder maybe I can change my mic settings reduce my background noise. How is that? Is that any better? [1416.94] Jack: Mmm, a bit kind of yeah [1422.26] Jack: It's weird [1425.14] Jack: The heat yeah [1427.5] Jack: interesting Andy [1429.74] Koel: Well, it's interesting that he says that because like I've never had that issue [1439.78] Koel: Never had that issue [1441.7] Koel: up until I [1444.18] Koel: Just crashed this GoPro like and then the GoPro was dead and now the SD card is funky and like the GoPro didn't get hot or anything [1451.7] Koel: so [1453.1] Koel: Who knows I think it's just a weird coincidence or I mean, maybe it's not a weird coincidence [1458.06] Koel: it's got to be it's got to be tied together to the crashes like [1462.3] Koel: Like the GoPro song starts acting funky the SD card starts acting funky. Yeah [1470.2] Koel: Need to fly more cool [1473.08] Koel: Buddy if you saw my hard drive of things I need to edit you would not be saying that [1480.48] Jack: Speaking of which [1485.28] Jack: Yes, as he walks away [1494.91] Jack: Okay, yeah, do you want to show you some of your [1500.39] Jack: What was your favorite? [1503.11] Koel: Thing I'm not even looking at any of UK footage until I'm done my Taiwan footage man [1507.55] Koel: I'm not even like I'm not even touching that. I'm not even previewing any of it [1512.79] Koel: All right, it's it's I [1515.87] Koel: Need to do things in chronological order or else my brain will just be like, yeah [1524.03] Koel: You do you want to show us what your favorite stuff was? No, I feel not [1530.47] Koel: Well [1533.31] Koel: You what [1534.79] Koel: Wait, I'll wait to your videos out [1537.51] Koel: Okay [1538.71] Koel: question on why analog is still alive [1541.43] Koel: Is it because it's cheap runs pretty good versus digital or is it because many pilots don't care about recording or image quality in the goggles? [1547.51] Koel: If needing to mount a GoPro [1549.71] Koel: Well, I can happily answer that question Matt prawn [1557.22] Koel: Cheap is definitely a huge part of it. Oh look at that [1561.74] Koel: Cheap is that is a big part of it [1564.22] Koel: Runs pretty good. I mean [1566.62] Koel: It's a foolproof system man. Like you give it power you give it a good antenna [1571.7] Koel: You have good receiving antennas and a good receiver module. It's gonna work [1577.3] Koel: it's you know, that that's what I would say, but [1582.38] Koel: Maybe how it's don't care about recording your image quality on the goggles for me personally [1588.38] Koel: I [1590.78] Koel: Care more about the GoPro footage being good quality opposed to [1595.38] Koel: Flying quality and this is coming from someone who's been flying analog [1600.3] Koel: Like entirely analog up until maybe like a month ago when I got the DJI [1605.1] Koel: Oh for pro system and I've just because I wanted to try it out and I can confidently say I still prefer flying on analog [1614.02] Koel: Opposed to oh for pro and I'm not even BSing at all. Like I went out and I flew [1620.74] Koel: my analog and my digital quad at the same spot and [1624.7] Koel: I [1626.78] Koel: Basically was like way too afraid to even try to hit gaps and shoot gaps with the digital stuff and like I don't know [1633.58] Koel: I just know maybe I'm just not used to it enough yet [1636.02] Koel: But the way that it felt when I was playing analog it was like I was going through small gaps [1640.9] Koel: I was going through all these different things. Just my confidence level with analog is like way way way more [1646.5] Koel: compared to [1647.74] Koel: Digital, but I'm also kind of a digital noob and I'm also not using [1653.06] Koel: digital systems in the way that [1655.42] Koel: Maybe other people are like I'm not doing the highest frame rate possible. I'm not doing [1660.78] Koel: like certain stuff, but I don't know I I would say yeah cheap runs good [1668.06] Koel: Don't care about the image quality as long as it's good enough, which good analog is more than good enough. I mean [1677.19] Koel: There's something pull up [1680.27] Koel: Let me pull something up here [1682.79] Koel: because I have [1687.96] Koel: Video evidence that analog is [1691.24] Koel: more than good enough [1693.24] Koel: for [1694.44] Koel: Pretty much everything [1696.12] Koel: whether it's freestyle long-range [1700.88] Koel: You name it, okay, here we go. Let me pull this up here [1704.4] Koel: this is a video from Alan Victor. He just put this video out and [1711.26] Koel: Are you able to see this? [1714.02] Koel: stage so [1716.38] Koel: Check this out like [1718.42] Koel: if [1721.36] Koel: If anybody says they need more resolution than this to fly then like they're actually lying [1728.8] Koel: because [1730.08] Koel: it it looks incredible like [1733.52] Koel: Like how like this is my honest opinion [1740.27] Koel: How could you need more image resolution than that? You can see everything like you can see [1748.03] Koel: You can see the blades of grass honestly look at that like it's so clean good analog is really good [1754.95] Koel: sure, you get like a little bit of a flickering every now and again, but like [1758.79] Koel: man [1760.55] Koel: Analog is in my opinion still king and probably will forever be the king because like look at this man [1767.51] Koel: This is like that. That looks like some high-res [1771.11] Koel: video future me if you ask me [1773.95] Koel: And I'm sure all the digital people would definitely disagree, but I love man looks absolutely amazing [1781.51] Koel: but I don't know [1786.54] Koel: That's just my take on it. What do you think Jack? [1789.46] Jack: Yeah, I mean [1791.34] Jack: One of the reasons I haven't migrated is I just don't [1796.9] Jack: really want to go to [1799.14] Jack: DJI, especially with like [1801.62] Jack: The the weather the old minutes how you doing, buddy? [1805.66] Jack: You're a man that met the legend. I know [1809.78] Jack: Bye bye stuff from this guy [1812.98] Jack: Menace RC. Yeah, the best antennas [1816.86] Koel: If you're in if you're in Europe or UK or ever over there [1820.36] Koel: That's the only type of what this the only antenna is to buy on that in those neck of the woods. I'd say [1826.42] Jack: He's got some cool stuff [1828.86] Jack: I've been [1831.14] Jack: flying some cool stuff [1833.7] Jack: nice [1835.14] Jack: Don't forget menace [1836.86] Jack: Don't forget or or this will get this will mind you I'm saying that this will probably still get me the travel anyway [1845.54] Jack: Was it ufl sMA? [1848.14] Jack: Yeah [1851.7] Jack: Yeah [1855.38] Jack: I need to put one of those horrible though. I think they're called KS or KF [1861.14] Jack: Oh with the little mounting parts on it. Yeah, yeah [1864.82] Jack: And huh, you just you buy a menace antenna and you just cover it [1871.78] Jack: in [1873.82] Jack: Heat shrink and it's protected at all costs protect it. Yeah, it's it's good and you glue the case when you crack it [1882.74] Koel: Richard we're working the test said [1885.02] Koel: Older GoPros are getting more love now as they don't need to be connected to an app to run [1889.72] Koel: Maybe that's why analog is still doing well. No account is required. I [1893.92] Koel: mean, yeah [1896.6] Koel: Could be I mean that is one thing too about analog. It's really good. It's like like I said [1903.6] Koel: You plug it in [1905.4] Koel: Your goggles on you get video. There's no there's no account. There's no [1912.72] Koel: Activation there's no firmware updates. It's like you're literally transmitting or receiving. That's it [1919.16] Koel: There's no [1920.56] Koel: There's no bogus behind it, which you know, I [1925.32] Koel: Don't know. I [1926.68] Koel: One thing I find really strange is like a lot of a lot of digital pilots or people that only [1932.68] Koel: basically have only ever flown digital or [1935.08] Koel: They'll always say like oh, I tried to analog once and it was crap and that went to I went digital and it's like [1942.24] Koel: the then then I could tell me what their setup was and they showed me it and I was like a [1947.4] Koel: It was likely set up incorrectly like [1951.52] Koel: you [1952.84] Koel: are obviously having a lot of issues that are a user error and [1956.28] Koel: And then you look at videos like Alan Victor's I just showed like analog can look so freaking good. So I [1965.28] Koel: Don't know. I've put it this way. I trust analog to go out very far and I also trust it very close and [1976.96] Koel: Anyone that complains about the breakup. It's like [1980.12] Koel: You don't you're not looking at the breakup [1982.44] Koel: You're looking like you're not focusing on what you can't see and what's what's covered you're focusing on what you can see if it does [1988.32] Koel: Start to break up. So I mean, that's that's how I got it. I prefer it [1993.84] Jack: Than just blank screen or frozen last image and it's quick to recover as well [2000.88] Jack: analog where [2003.32] Jack: You are waiting [2005.44] Koel: Analog is like basically it gives you warning signs like it's not just like boom [2010.84] Koel: I mean unless you go behind like a friggin crazy wall and like, you know [2014.92] Koel: I mean not even a wall but like so you just go behind something or you just get blasted out by like some other kind [2020.72] Koel: of antennas that are in the area like [2023.16] Koel: It'll start a little frizzle [2025.48] Koel: Then they'll frizzle a little more [2027.32] Koel: Then it'll it'll fizz like quite a bit and you'll start getting these weird things and you're like [2032.12] Koel: By the time it gets starts doing all the weird stuff [2034.16] Koel: You probably should have already turned around and gotten back to safety [2038.2] Koel: Whereas like I mean then again [2040.52] Koel: The new digital stuff is pretty good though, especially like oh for pro [2044.92] Koel: like I've seen some videos where it'll go down to like one megabit per second and [2051.04] Koel: people will be like really far out and they're still flying on one megabit and like [2057.6] Koel: Yeah [2059.96] Jack: Yeah [2061.44] Jack: and [2062.44] Jack: and [2063.68] Jack: What I find really upsetting for you is that you live in Canada? [2068.92] Jack: When it gets to winter time, you cannot fly [2074.92] Jack: Yeah, so like in theory a normal, you know, if you don't end up going to Taiwan [2082.2] Jack: Or like, you know going away and doing a ton of flying you would only really fly for half the year [2089.6] Jack: I [2092.52] Koel: Not even half the year bro, I would literally fly it from like maybe May to [2101.77] Koel: wait [2104.17] Koel: Yeah, maybe October like May is even a stretch because it can still be pretty cold in May sometimes here [2109.53] Koel: But like May to maybe October and even that's pushing it like three like four maybe five months out of the year [2116.89] Koel: You can fly here [2119.73] Koel: And ERC said [2121.45] Koel: Analog is fine flying on your own. The issue he has is it's unusable as soon as someone turns on the DJI stuff [2126.93] Koel: Which is trying to receive? Yeah, but no that's not true at all, man [2131.53] Koel: Cuz we as long as people are on the right channels, you can fly DJI with analog stuff [2136.89] Koel: you do get the [2140.41] Koel: You go you get like the you get some little bit but I'm good. Oh, I guess that's the thing though [2147.25] Koel: Well, I was over there. I flew my analog quad with the one guy that was flying with DJI quad. I [2154.69] Koel: Didn't have any I didn't have any breakup or any anything and we were flying like together [2160.41] Koel: so I think it's I do think that like channel selection and like knowing the frequencies also makes a big difference, but yeah [2167.81] Koel: if you're at like a flying club then [2171.29] Koel: you know, if there's a lot of people that's kind of hard to coordinate I guess but [2176.33] Koel: Yeah, I also yeah again, I don't fly with a ton of people either so [2183.58] Koel: It's great for me. That's my fly analog. It's like I don't have to worry about [2188.54] Koel: To be honest [2189.42] Koel: I find it really annoying having to like change my channels and then like change my receiver channels and like do all that kind of stuff [2195.98] Koel: but yeah [2204.97] Koel: Yeah, well, I guess [2207.57] Koel: Trying to take it to a club where everyone's digital. It would just take way more [2212.01] Koel: Like preparation or like coordination with other people so I can see why it would just it'd be annoying [2219.05] Koel: Yeah, they got like I said, I find it annoying having to even fly with other people just to coordinate different channels [2224.37] Koel: And oh, I'm on this channel. So now I gotta change my channels. I'm like [2229.25] Koel: Like I I generally actually prefer to not fly at the same time as other people because [2235.97] Koel: It just feels safer [2237.49] Koel: I guess unless it's like you and one buddy or something like that and you can talk while you're flying you can coordinate and stuff [2243.05] Koel: I just I'm not really a huge fan of flying at the same time as a bunch of people just too much chaos [2249.13] Koel: I'm like, I'm trying to focus on the flying aspect [2252.01] Koel: not oh, no, now I gotta like get out of the way of other people flying the air too, it's like [2258.37] Koel: It's a bit bit of a bit of chaos. Yeah [2261.41] Jack: We glad that he was [2269.23] Jack: You were on analog first rather than it's so many new pilots [2275.95] Jack: Probably now can't go to analog because they're like, no, I need to be able to see absolutely everything [2282.99] Koel: Well, dude, I think it's a like I'm not trying to call out digital pilots because like everybody has their own preference [2290.23] Koel: But I do find that there's a lot of digital pilots that maybe haven't done analog [2294.59] Koel: They're kind of like snobby like how can you fly that that's not even flyable [2298.51] Koel: like as far as the image quality goes and I'm like [2301.43] Koel: You guys could we haven't had good analog before then if you think that analog is bad [2306.51] Koel: then you haven't had the proper analog experience because I will I will shout from mountaintops about how great analog is because it is [2315.07] Koel: like [2316.35] Koel: the field latency that the [2319.51] Koel: the range the the cost the [2323.15] Koel: Sure, you're not getting crazy resolution, but you don't need crazy resolution to fly you actually don't [2330.31] Koel: Like go on my youtube channel [2333.11] Koel: Look at anything. I've ever done other than anything in the past month that specifically says DJI 04 Pro [2339.55] Koel: I've done all that on analog and it's totally doable [2345.27] Jack: Yeah, no worries [2349.07] Koel: Yeah, just one of those things man. It's like [2352.31] Koel: people do get really caught up in the in the tech side of things thinking like you need the latest and greatest and [2359.35] Koel: Definitely not the case tailspin's been on f1 for years. Yeah. Hell. Yeah, dude. That's fat shark man, right? [2369.35] Jack: Yeah, yeah [2371.55] Koel: That's one. I'm a I guess he's a he's a race car driver then. Oh, yeah [2378.63] Jack: I've been on [2381.27] Jack: Five eight zero [2388.35] Jack: Ten years [2393.22] Koel: Shark five. Hmm. I should know that I say when I tuned in. Yeah [2403.42] Jack: Channel I was assigned [2405.46] Koel: From I don't know one. Yeah, I have no idea how like [2409.9] Koel: How I've been this been like I've been in the race band since the beginning [2414.86] Koel: I don't know how or who or why or what but I think maybe like you sent me a quad that was on raceband [2421.58] Koel: Yeah [2423.34] Jack: Yeah, like yeah [2425.78] Jack: There's not actually no reason to like [2429.06] Jack: stick you on [2431.18] Jack: like, you know the old-school fat shark band and also with like [2436.78] Jack: Being fat sure being like raceband. I stuck you on raceband, too [2442.46] Jack: So that you were on raceband [2445.06] Jack: But it meant that at least you'd know have to you know, you'd have to change [2450.5] Jack: Channel to make sure that you were on right, you know [2456.34] Jack: Actually on raceband to true like on the gosh, I like e7 or something. Yeah [2462.14] Koel: Yeah, yeah on the correct one because that they overlap right and you could be technically on you can be transmitting on our one [2469.3] Koel: Or whatever. Yeah, and then so many [2473.02] Jack: Yeah, use the smart search and it just gets it wrong [2478.38] Jack: Yeah [2479.42] Koel: Yeah, audio geek said on analog with buddies. We fly 25 milliwatt DJI pods do not fly 25. That's the problem [2486.14] Koel: Yeah, and then Andy I see was also saying the problem is in 2015 analog goggles cost $700 [2492.7] Koel: Well, it's 2025 analog goggles still cost $700 [2496.82] Koel: So when digital came along was about the same or less as I heard so [2500.82] Koel: Yeah, but then analog VTX costs what like 30 to $50 compared to like $400 [2508.1] Koel: Or like well, maybe that's an exaggeration. How much is it for a how much is it for a DJ? [2513.66] Koel: I owe for Pro. It's like three something. Maybe. Yeah, is it is it true that? [2519.7] Jack: Like you can't buy the cameras separately either [2523.66] Jack: You can you can what the analog or the digital stuff digital stuff? Yeah, you can be in bastard [2530.46] Koel: you know, you can definitely still buy a [2533.1] Koel: DJI just the camera and stuff they have replacements for that [2538.18] Koel: But then [2540.18] Koel: No, tailspin says analog with a run cam thumb for HD footy can't go wrong. Yeah [2547.86] Koel: I'm actually I'm going to be oh, I guess I [2553.14] Koel: Guess I lied on my on my review video that I just put out the other day. I said in my next video [2557.54] Koel: I'm gonna give away something but then I just put out another video, but I'm giving away a run cam 5 orange brand new so [2564.38] Koel: anybody who's interested [2566.74] Koel: My link is in the description of this live chat, I think and so yeah, if anybody wants to potentially win a run cam 5 orange [2576.78] Koel: Go check out my channel, I guess I guess if that's yeah [2585.89] Koel: See the vista was 125 [2589.49] Koel: great British pounds [2591.81] Koel: Yeah, but that's like great British power [2594.93] Koel: The the vista doesn't exist anymore does it that's still 250 bucks Canadian [2601.93] Koel: I [2603.33] Koel: Mean, maybe it still exists. I could be talking rubbish, but [2608.69] Koel: Analog GTX is tiny digital is huge doesn't fit my old frames [2613.69] Koel: You know, I only fly micros can't carry heavy GoPro anyway, oh my oh me oh my [2626.7] Koel: Duncan [2627.98] Koel: Do you know Duncan? I do not know Duncan, but hi Duncan [2635.98] Koel: One of my best friends growing up and I was in a band with him growing up. His name is Duncan. So that's pretty cool [2644.7] Koel: Yeah, Duncan did just get married that's right to a Mexican girl [2651.98] Koel: No Duncan will definitely know how much this [2655.3] Koel: To me, it's almost the same for analog versus digital like Yale RS versus crossfire [2659.62] Koel: Probably because it's cheap both works difficult to say which one is better [2664.1] Koel: Yeah, yeah, definitely it's a it's a comparison type scenario there, although I don't know like I [2671.46] Koel: Don't think anything is technically better than the other there's just they're just different like [2677.54] Koel: Resolution wise digital is obviously better than analog, but [2681.94] Koel: Then cost wise analog is better than digital [2685.06] Koel: You'll arrest in crossfire. I mean that's a whole other rabbit hole, but I mean I'm I'm crossfire for life, man [2690.94] Koel: You're kind of both aren't you Jack? [2695.3] Jack: I'm the other acts and then I do a bit crossfire for my mid-range stuff [2704.3] Koel: Yeah, I [2707.06] Koel: I fly the tango to transmitter. So I'm crossfire. I have a bunch of transmitters [2714.1] Koel: I mean transfers a bunch of receivers antennas. So I [2718.94] Koel: Mean it would be nice to actually just saw a video where some guy put [2725.86] Koel: A mini mortal 915 crossfire into like a five-inch. Can you do that? Is that a good idea? [2734.82] Jack: No [2737.54] Jack: Because like even traffic and that everyone's like don't don't use them anymore. It's terrible [2746.34] Koel: Yeah, well curious to see I mean, yeah, I [2752.1] Koel: Unless I started like building really small drones then [2756.46] Koel: You know [2757.66] Koel: Then you'll arrest might be favorable. But for now, yeah [2762.58] Koel: You know us is making a big step though [2766.96] Koel: One giant step for man [2770.28] Koel: One humongous leap for drone kind [2774.92] Koel: Yeah, you know the rest is for five-inch racing crossfire for everything else. Yeah [2786.31] Koel: Yeah, that makes sense. I don't know I [2790.03] Koel: Like crossfire. I fly crossfire. It works. It takes me out far. It comes back [2796.55] Koel: Just make sure that you don't have forced telemetry on [2799.95] Koel: Or else you might get some really funky stuff happening. So [2804.39] Koel: Yeah [2805.83] Koel: Like when you're like, you know [2807.87] Koel: X amount of kilometers out at the top of a mountain you go to do a split s and then all of a sudden like [2813.35] Koel: Your quad reaction is like delayed and then you're and you're like, oh shit [2818.35] Koel: and then you have to basically like [2820.95] Koel: you know [2822.55] Koel: Telemetry is taking over the frickin [2825.15] Jack: like [2828.71] Koel: Yeah, and I'm like [2830.39] Koel: Top of a frickin mountain trying to split us a crazy like cliff and then my my drone is like delayed from my [2838.75] Koel: Sticks I was like wait, what is happening? Yeah, that sucked [2843.43] Koel: so yeah, if anybody ever has a weird issue where they're getting some weird response after they've [2849.31] Koel: Like maybe done a factory reset of the transmitter or something just make sure forced telemetry is not on [2856.47] Koel: And maybe that's a maybe wait. Is that a receiver setting? I don't know. I can't remember [2861.55] Koel: It's it's in it'll be within your radio setting for either the radio or the receiver [2870.7] Koel: Crossfire just works. You don't need a laptop to buy the new receiver in the field. That's why it's his main but so expensive [2879.54] Jack: Yo, man [2881.98] Jack: Why the old edit is here I'm gonna [2887.02] Jack: I've got a wrap-up [2889.26] Jack: You're winning the old editor [2892.38] Jack: The old original editor the one before Peter. Oh [2898.98] Jack: Aniseed man, yeah [2902.3] Koel: Yeah, so we're not we're not we're not finishing the episode [2908.42] Koel: Last episode of let's turn out we're not finishing [2911.74] Jack: Well, I well, no, I mean, you know like I just saying I need to go soon [2919.02] Jack: Your radio shows not for what like three hours [2922.06] Jack: Yeah, I know, but I've got other stuff to to do [2925.46] Jack: All right, man. I'll send it here then. No, it's all right. I don't like not right instantly [2931.74] Koel: You just said you have to go I know [2934.66] Koel: Okay, then let's end it here then man. Come on like whatever. What is it? Is the show happening? Is it not like you're the man [2941.86] Jack: No, it's fine. Are you like not into me? But yes [2946.38] Koel: I'm gonna replay this when it's over and you literally made it seem like you're leaving right now [2951.22] Koel: This is usually calling you out live on let's turn out you bastard. Sorry [2958.1] Koel: Okay, well, I mean yeah, I guess for anybody who's watching and listening I guess [2964.66] Jack: Let's yeah, it's not happening next week or ever. I don't know Steve Steven might do it [2969.3] Jack: I don't know what the do you want to do it with Steven? I don't want to do it anymore, man [2974.06] Koel: This is done like like we can't be the only people just doing this [2977.06] Koel: This is like like I love everybody in the chat everybody who's interacting like this has been a crazy [2982.1] Koel: like fun experience to talk to everybody but like [2985.78] Jack: Man, what are we doing? Like what's going on? I know I appreciate everyone. I just hope that there isn't [2993.46] Jack: Someone who like relies on let's drone out, you know, there's a there's a few, you know, like [3001.98] Jack: TSD really helped me through some dark times and [3007.02] Jack: A la Madia as well [3009.38] Jack: you know [3010.78] Jack: sometimes you kind of [3013.18] Jack: Rely on rely on the media.
